Aleksandar Kolarov - 2016/17 performances

As a CB he's better than Stones in that he at least tries to tackle or block and he's decent at passing forward.

But As a fullback he is not just useless at moving forward, he is a hindrance. I'd prefer a kid as a fullback than him.

Agreed, a decent CB, a liability as a left back.

Another magnificent game. Easily the best centre half at the club. Must play even if Kompany return s I would play the pair of them and develop Stones slowly. Otamendi will probably go in summer. The pass to Sterling for the pen that should have been was superb.

Best centre half at the club at the moment since Kompany can't be relied on. He's been really good at centre half, yesterday he was excellent!

Quite a terrible left back though and should never play there again but I'd offer him a new deal if he was to remain in the middle

We do need a full back and I am undecided on whether a new deal is the best option but if he is willing to play a bit part role up next season he still a useful player to have.

been one of his biggest critics but i wanted to say that v Spurs he looked absolute Class

Yes he did. He also could play LB vs weaker sides, but he has to stay back. Otherwise his missing pace will cause problems.

Finding a solution of our LB position will be key for the rest of the season. (Besides scoring...)

New deal as a CB but never as a LB

It's down to whether he is going to accept a covering role in either position next season is my only issue. The last thing we want next season is Kolarov stinking the place with a lack of game time.

I actually don't think this is a problem. He has a hardman persona which is understandable given his upbringing, but I don't expect him to make a fuss over game time. He knows he's coming to the end of his career and in my opinion his attitude towards Pep's arrival has been very good.

I don't think he's put in one bad performance at CB and seven or eight times has been immense. I'd like him to stay. Get a new LB in and give Angelino/Zinchenko/Delph a go there as backup. Kolarov as 4th CB (3rd realistically as VK barely counts).

I think Kolarov has got off lightly for some of his cb performances due to the more obvious inepteness, at times, of his partners. He was one of the first whose arse went at Celtic & Spurs, which is where the rot started. Personally I thought he was passive & useless for Spurs' 2nd goal on Saturday.

He has turned in some decent performances though & considering he's playing next to two completely unpredictable partners, there is an argument for him to stay on.

But please not as a fullback. He's fucking hopeless.

Small thing, he was at LB vs Spurs away.

Kolarov has to be sold this summer or benched all of next season. I can understand sentiment towards Zabba, Yaya, Silva, Kompany and Aguero but not Kolarov. Along with Nasri he's been consistently inconsistent and therefore more frustrating than most. Nasri might be doing well in Sevilla but I don't want him back because he'll be the same player here as he was.

Kolarov is woeful defensively. This is true whether he's at left back or centre back. He's probably a better centre back, but not good enough for the level we want to reach. Wouldn't want him as a squad player, what message is that to someone like Tosin?

Kolarov will still want an important role on good money if he stayed. Besiktas baulked at Kolarov's demands last summer, otherwise he would be playing in Turkey this season.

In tonights stroll he was the one who gave it away most, committed silly fouls and I think if we had a better set of fullbacks we would be pretty unstoppable. Sane was immense in the first half covering him. None the less I'll take 4-0 any day of the week.

Agree completely. Proper fullbacks, top quality young keeper and we are going to be some side. Possibly add a young DM, Weigl-type.
