Our marketing team are at it again

I guess they aren't happy with the genuine, from the heart atmosphere that fans are creating on their own?

No one has created this solution unprompted. Attendances were down for the crap group games, plenty on here are always happy to say they've sacked off the CL games because they hate the competition, so the club has to do something to get attendances up.

You're probably right, maybe the tipping point is upon us and they traditional local support that was vociferous isn't evident so the club are trying to manufacture some fake tribalism that just doesn't/won't exist. The only way to get atmosphere back is to actively promote the game to teenage lads so that they go with their mates and get loud, the happy clappers wouldn't want that though because it would ruin their sit down popcorn experience.

51k at Spurs, 49k at City.

50k midweek attendances for routine CL group games is pretty damn good. When we were at Maine Rd, midweek Cup crowds topped out at 25k. Our support has grown, and is still growing.

I will say that listening to 5Live yesterday they mentioned the attendance at Spurs being poor, and empty seats a lot, 5 or 6 times during the game plus in the build up discussed whether it was a sign the fans had lost faith.

The solution is in our own hands:
1. Stop hiding behind EUFA corruption and get your arse down to the game
2. Stop moaning about the atmosphere and generate your own
3. Stop making up bollox about the transport network and watch your team to the end

Maybe a generation gap on here but influencer's do now have a power to change a brand. Look at Mrs Hinch for toiletries and Joe wicks fitness. This is how e-commence is done nowadays.

Faze Clan were at the wolves games are a group of esports youtubers who compete for large volumes of money in tournaments. Their reach is massive with 4m on twitter, and over 7m on youtube. Their sponsors include Wiz.com, FIFA and Nissan. All City sponsors. Plus these guys are always running about in city shirts in their videos. Personally, its not my generation but its business in 2019.

In terms of football, 1 person or a group of people can influence the city brand by attending games or BTS work with the team. This will then get more exposure than many traditional media channels and for a lower overall cost. They could fly in some yank with 1million followers and give him a shirt for the price of a billboard in Manchester city centre! City are playing catch up on fan base and engagment but this is the natural step to close the gap on RM, United, Liverpool, Barca...

Arsenal TV is the obvious top football fan channel currently but usually their means is for comedy value rather than appraisal of the club directly. That being said, looking at their metrics, im sure their reach is to furthest corners of the globe and this would "influence" someone to become an Arsenal fan (buy tickets, shirts)!

Some on here and the media like Paddy power will take the Mick of this but this is normal practice. People and brands make millions this way.

Haha, I don’t think there’s a generation gap for me mate. I’m in my twenties and work in paid media at an agency in London.

That ‘brief’ and approach from the club is a car crash.

It wasn't full but it was still a good crowd for what was a pretty routine game. I watched the highlights when I got back on BT Sport's Youtube channel and I saw plenty of empty seats around Europe including Juventus at home, which is notable because it's a small ground. There's probably something in the City fans and Europe argument. There are a few blues I know who refuse to have anything to do with the CL whereas for Liverpool fans, it is a Holy Grail.

If the seats are going to be empty for midweek games otherwise I don't mind if the club tries out new things to get people in the door that wouldn't otherwise come. Maybe they'll like what they see, who knows?

So the club state a third partner agency they have previously used have done this with no permission! Wow I am shocked the club have not got a tighter legal restriction on anything to do with the clubs image & rights.

why on earth would a third party agency do this without permission ?

All very odd

Sorry, I realise now that my comment didn't make this clear but I was talking about the Spurs game.
