A lot of our player's could probably leave and nobody who we need would want to join us

Or no one could leave as an appeal means a possible suspention of the ban for next season.

Also if any want to go then city isn't their priority and unfortunately they won't be worth keeping.

The only way we will be in the chumps league next season is if they somehow we can suspend the punishment pending the appeal, hence the harsh punishment of two seasons ban. If we win the appeal we will probably still have had a season out of the competition due to the time that CAS will take to hear the case. This was probably UEFA’s strategy all along.
I'm pretty sure that CAS will have to agree to suspend the ban pending appeal - natural justice. Otherwise, there'd be no purpose of having an appeal court.

Punishments are always suspended once an appeal goes in which apparently is happening forthwith, as per club statement

I thought this was not the case hence Chelsea's recent transfer ban. They appealed the decision but it was rejected, they went through the appeal process and then the ban was over turned.

As it happened it forced them to use some of their youngsters which I wold love to see here.

Juventus got relegated to Serie B, came back up straight away and are now in with a good chance of winning their ninth title in a row. A couple of years out of the Champions League wouldn't destroy our club, even if it wasn't basically an opening gambit by UEFA. Presumably the thinking is that a ridiculously harsh punishment simply gives the CAS a chance to reduce it and still potentially see us kicked out of Europe for a season.
