Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

All this seems to have gathered momentum since that bellend Culture Minister said it would be helpful if the PL matches went free to air.[/QUOTE)

He also said at the same time "but this is dependant on them being able to pass the 5 tests that have been laid down for the country to come out of lockdown"
So perhaps he isn't a bellend and you and many others should read a statement in it's entirety and not pick out sentences that suit you're agenda.
Its something that this forum berates the media/journalists for in many threads yet we allow posters on here to do it.

But if football is to be played behind closed doors even with no fans allowed within 1km radius of the grounds ,where do you think liverpool fans will celebrate? That's right there will be house parties all over Britain, Ireland ,Scandinavia and beyond. Fans mixing with their fellow fans to celebrate the end of 30 years of hurt. So in effect by restarting the league, sky sports will be responsible indirectly to a new wave of covid19 infections
They won’t care, too much money involved to them and others within positions to apply pressure to restart the league at all costs the Coronavirus is an inconvenience to them or for that matter the terrible number of deaths, wouldn’t be surprised large sums of money reach people who will make this all happen ..

The most successful European country at combating this virus has been Germany who are to restart the Bundesliga. This will be the template if successful. The PL will follow lol.

They’d be no loss though.

This is very significant. Any far from trivial. It's not just a case of shipping out testing kits. Every medical expert agrees we are nowhere close to having a remotely definitive antibody test. There are way too many false positives and false negatives. COVID-19 is one of a group of so-called Corona Viruses, one of which is the common cold. So someone can test positive for Corona antibodies as a result of having had a common cold. But has no resistance to COVID-19. Also no way to determine reliably the population of asymptomatic individuals who can carry and spread the virus - some of whom could be professional footballers!
