You'll get a nice Oris Aquis Automatic Date divers watch for around a grand. A Swiss made watch with an inhouse made movement.

    The NHS

I'm just interested how exactly everyone has arrived at the conclusion that the NHS badly run. Is this by individuals carrying out their own analyses of cost efficiency on a trust-by-trust, specialism-by-specialism, & department-by-department basis? Or is it because the Tories and the right wing...

Sounds like a 3rd wave stance, as in ACT, MBCT, or DBT.

    confidence

Another example of the English language tripping people up in terms of how they make sense of things. Confidence is a derivative of 'con' (with) and 'fide' (fidelity). So the literal translation is to 'act with fidelity' that is- do what matters in spite of how difficult. So you cannot BE...

    Cold Sores Grrrrrrrr!

I don't get them on my mouth but up my nose- I've one or two in each nostril at the moment and they're a nightmare. I've heard that most people carry the virus, either dormant or active, but only some people get 'outbreaks'. Looks like we're the unlucky ones.

    Upgrading Junior Ticket

I sometimes upgrade my dads oap ticket to a full adult when he can't make it and the price of doing this seems to have recently shot up. At one time it was a case of making up the difference in cost, but now it seems to equate to the cost of purchasing an adult ticket outright. I suspect it...

    Lost Prophets.

I can't help thinking he's safer inside in solitary than out in public. He should be requesting more time away from the baying mob who're waiting to give him what he deserves at the first opportunity.

    5:2 diet

True. Without going back to book I can't really expand any further other than to say it was a controlled trial which, I think required abstinence from food for a longer period than the normal sunrise-sundown, to have a look at how fasting ( eg during Ramadan) might lead to deleterious effects...

    5:2 diet

Not hoping to contradict you pal, but again, according to the book, fasting has only been found to have a positive effect on energy levels and sporting performance- obviously with the proviso that it is set in the context of 5:2 intermittent ratio. The books talks about how Muslim footballers...

    5:2 diet

I've just finished the book and my understanding is that fasting on 2 consecutive days isn't a problem. In the book Michael a Mosely does 4 or 5 days under the instruction of that professor who specialises in researching longevity. From what I can make out, the reason they advise splitting the...

I've had one for last 12 months running through the tv in my living room as a family computer / media centre. They're fantastic and exactly the same apple experience as a mbp or mba.

    "A Good Cause Ruined"

I think the sentiment (ie promoting acceptance and acknowledgement of equality) is all well and good, but only really holds water or has any true impact when it originates from the group supposedly emphasising the sentiment (in this case footballers). For any external/charitable group already...

    "Literally"

Re: "Literally" The most irritating is when people start telling you something, starting the sentence with 'basically' as if you're thick. It's normally thick people trying to explain something which has no complex element to it anyway.

Travelling to Manchester by car - how best to get to Etihad?

There's plenty of parking at £5 a time at the end of Briscoe Lane near the juncture of Alan Turing Way. And if you're tight and get there at least 90 mins before kickoff you can park on higher up Briscoe Lane or on Grimshaw Lane (near the junction with Briscoe Lane) for free.
