The Album Review Club - Week #116 - (page 1381) - You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic - Ian Hunter

Having been unsure before, and now having listened once, I am now positive I previously owned this record, but it may be concerning that I couldn’t remember. There are way too many familiar riffs and melodies. I’m also pretty sure I must have purchased it for “Cleveland Rocks”, which has always...

I believe Barry Manilow did plenty of coke in his day but as far as I know he's still on the proper side of the turf.

I'd like to believe our ancestors did. I've seen the Flintstones. I'd love to have a record player with a bird's beak as the needle.

You can't "believe in" or "not believe in" dinosaurs. They existed. So when they say "we believe in dinosaurs" it's nonsensical . . . unless they are attempting to differentiate themselves from other nonsensicals who say "we don't believe in dinosaurs." Either way, either phrase is nonsensical.

No, I mean, the quote/words -- "we believe in dinosaurs" -- makes no sense.

It's not meant to be religious -- it's meant to draw parallels between belief structures and how easy is is to cling to illogic or contrary evidence to defend them. Church is a community of like-minded, connected humans. My wife is Unitarian; I was raised Roman Catholic. In both our case the...

Sure, because they are the most interesting topic among many in the scientific past, especially to children. I could have put millions of other contradictory words in there. They haven't incorporated all of them. They can't. It's not possible. There's also no "belief" about dinosaurs. The very...

"Do you believe in Jesus Christ's divinity?" "Yes." "So you believe the bible is the truth?" "Yes." "ALL of the Bible, right? Because if some parts aren't true, maybe the the Gospels aren't and therefore Jesus might not have done all the things that were said of him." "Right." "In fact...

And has the ORIGINAL version of "Cleveland Rocks"! To be juxtaposed with Randy Newman's "Burn On". Kind of like Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" vs. Neil Young's "Alabama", a topic we've discussed with the DBTs. Assuming you're right, I definitely remember either owning or hearing this...

Good, cuz I've been chickening out of posting one for a year and I think next round I'm going to offer it up though I am very certain the response will be less than positive.

I was looking through the list and I must depress overall scores cuz there are a bunch near the top of our two-plus years that I somehow missed due to traveling or whatever that I need to listen to. Maybe I'll just speed listen through a bunch of them and give number scores only for fun. Bad...

I don't disagree with this. It's been true for a while in the U.S. I just don't agree that there's anyone here who thinks that Biden is a 100% guaranteed lock to win, as you've asserted, is all. And then I don't know that there's much data to support that the swing voters in those states who...

Kudos for a spirited review, with which I obviously disagree. Still can't fathom how folks key in on how much they hate "voices". I also think the sentence on "every note" being done before and better and angrier and safer is hyperbole that if true would render most music by any artist pointless.

It's "obvious" -- okay, well, not to me -- so I'll ask again -- who here specifically is in the "Biden-can't-possibly-lose-reality-distortion-bubble"? Which posters? Name them. It's only controversial if you won't answer. Give those you label this way a chance to agree or disagree with said label.
