£10 ticket trial starting for tomorrow nights game

People going on about it not being fair need to grow up. Its all down to supply and demand. The same with most industries. Take holidays for example. You want a specific hotel in Spain flying a specific time from Manchester you book a year in advance at brochure price call it £500 per person. The same holiday may or may not be left a few days before you go, they sell it for £200. You want a specific seat for every game a guaranteed ticket for every game meaning you don't miss out on the popular matches, you're ensuring you're mates are near you etc etc, you buy a season ticket. The handful of tickets left strewn up in the gods somewhere get sold off cheap. It happens in all industries.

Weird, you try and sound intelligent but fail here. Every supermarker sells on the cheap close to expiration date.
That analogy is only at all relevant if these £10 tickets are being sold only for the final 10 minutes of the game.

Mammutly's right, so I don't know why you're all jumping down his throat. He's simply saying that from a purely economic point of view the club's ticketing policy has clearly failed for this game. That really is an indisputable fact. If the pricing policy had been a success, they wouldn't have any empty seats left to basically give away. No matter what business you're in, having to sell something for a quarter of its original face value means you've fucked up somewhere along the line.

Whilst it may look like a great altruistic gesture, it is also a real kick in the teeth for a lot of people. And again, no matter what line of your business you're in, you don't want to make a habit of going around kicking your customers in the teeth. Not everyone who pre-booked a ticket is necessarily rolling around in bundles of cash, and likewise, not everyone who takes advantage of this offer will be on the breadline.

It is a fuck up, and I'm sure if you were to have a private, off-the-record conversation with anyone at the club, they'd tell you the same thing. The club won't want to be repeating this "gesture" because it will simply serve to throw the whole ticketing process into chaos. The plus side, though, is that it should lead to cheaper tickets across the board. Chances are, had tickets been priced £7 or £8 cheaper for this game, this thread wouldn't even exist. This is the lesson the club will have learnt from all of this, not that it's ok to piss off a load of people by rewarding a few every time they get their prices wrong.

sorry but that is a joke, i have a season ticket anyway but it seems yo would save money if you didnt buy one the way things are going, also what about people who have been buying tickets for this game today and before now find out they have been well and truly done over
this being the downfall somone yesterday would have paid 40 odd quid and thats not right and its not fair
look at it this way a shop sells items for christmas at a certain price you buy one, On christmas eve the shop still has some of the items left that are no use to them the day after, so they reduce them, you're a bit pissed of because they were cheaper than when you bought them however if you'd waited there would be no guarentee you'd get one as you would have to queue up like all the people who wanted one late.
Stop moaning about it and be happy that our club is willing to do things like this.

i think its a great idea,i know that there will be people on here saying i paid more now they go and reduce the price, unfortunately i no longer have my st had to give it up after 99 and the playoff. kids and mortgage have seen to that, so any chance off a good deal on tkt prices dont half help, heres another thing if we have say 40,000 at home games and tkt cost 10quid thats 400,000 20quid thats 800,000 now if the average tkt price is 30 1.2mill, then take the cost off stewards, police, all your ground staff and everyone else in the running of match day procedures, then ad robinho 160,000 adeybeyor 120,000? tevez 150,000, bellamy 90,000? lescott 90,000? kompany? ngj? gaz baz? given? rsc? you get what i see, cause if you add up just first team wages then i sure as hell know that there wont be any gate reciept money left, then you have the reserves, your acadamies scouts coaches and so on. so what dose it mater really it may as well be say 20 for a seat a fiver for your kids and sell the ground out week on week. do this then you have a bigger fan base and the next generation off fan, not only that redevelopment of ground bigger crowds more shirts massive profile simples its got to be the way forward, or if not like quite a lot us blues who dont have the spare cash my city is fast becoming a distant memory and out of reach. and i hate motd and the red biased shit we have to endure,so come on city lets have more of good deals for dad and kids

I think its a good scheme and allows people who cant normnally afford it to attend, whilst appreciating some people may feel a bit miffed!

My only comment... we hear alot about the legalities of charging supporters different prices in the same stand. This clearly destroys that argument. City could hence charge away fans the price that they charge City fans at their ground whilst offering lower prices to home supporters.

I don't buy that the "ticketing policy" is wrong. There appear to be only a handfull of these tickets available so the club have discounted them to shift them. Why is the policy wrong?

looks like all tickets sold now on o.s.
There were about 1,500 or so left last night so they wont have gone this morning. I think that they are onsale to personal callers at the Box Ofice only....don't know about the Arndale Shop.

I like the idea.

They should have done this for the extra seats City fans have got in the South stand for the wigan game - £10 in blocks 113, 114 and 115 from the start first come first served
