£50m bid

I think it's Bale.

First, it fits exactly with what we need. Second, we have Pellegrini's rather strange comment about us only having one "crack" player, which taken in isolation might not mean anything, but it was odd and in the context of this debate is significant. Then third, there's a question mark over Bale's future at Real. Fourth, RM are being funded by Sheikh Mansour to the tune of £350m and if the Sheikh says he wants Bale, then I don't think RM would risk snubbing him.

So which part. Breaking the transfer record? If so who? Difficult to think of anyone bar Messi, Ronaldo or Neymar. Can't see the two Barca boys leaving and surely Ronaldo is too old for us to be spending 100 million. These are the only players who bring huge money to the buying club.

Lower level galacticos include Muller, Suarez, Bale. Maybe if Kroos is unhappy at Madrid. Reus. Who knows? I certainly don't.

But from the point of view of shirt sales, given the popularity of the PL, it might be that buying British or players currently plying their trade here, is the way forward marketing wise if not playing wise.
It depends on which currency you're using, Ronaldo went for £80 miil which was €94 mill at the time (according to Wiki). €94 mill now is "only" £64 mill so it would be possible to break the world transfer fee fairly easily if buying one of the usual suspects from Barca or Real right now.
Except the world record is €100m (around £73m)
I'm aware of that, Ronaldo was just an example. Besides which I wasn't sure Bale was ever confirmed at €100 mill or not.

Mansour isn't funding Real, he's building their new stadium. That will give him jack shit in terms of buying anyone.

He's actually funding the building which leaves the debate somewhere between you and Chippy Boy.
For me personally I would leave Bale well alone and look elsewhere.

Really? I hadn't realised you'd seen the contract.

And, whilst I am typing, what strange logic leads you to type "Mansour isn't funding Real, he's building their new stadium" and not realise what a utterly bonkers sentence that is?

Ahh, so you have seen the contract. You should have said, can you post any of it? Especially where it says "if I build this new stadium, you have to sell City Bale".

Mate, with the greatest respect, well with a bit of respect at least, you are just being silly.

You're the one sho jumped down my throat dismissing any possible influence Sheikh Mansour may possibly have. Given that he is giving Real Madrid £350m on terms unknown, its not a preposterous speculation that this not inconsiderable sum might just buy him some influence at least. Who knows, maybe more than influence.

I was on the monarch flight home on Thursday from Barca, as was Txiki. With his wife so assumed he stayed on for an extra night in Barca after the team flew home.

He was asked by a few blues about the club, signings and spending etc.

He basically said that FFP has restricted who we've brought in this year, we have been shackled to a certain extent with the deals we have been able to put together (fee and wages). He also said next year we will spend very big with no restrictions.

I also managed to grab a quick work with him on the way to passport control and he again said we will spend very big in the summer.

Just passing on what I heard.

Mangala 31m
Bony 25m
Fernando 12m
Fernandinho 30m
Jovetic 22m
Negredo 20m
Navas 15m
Demichelis 4m

159 Million right there. If that's being 'shackled' then 100% of the clubs in the world would love a bit of that! The real elephant in the room is that they were on the whole, pretty bad buys.
