anyone think this deal might be fading away from us and we may just focus on jovetic and ibrahimovic?

How much Ibra? How Ibra wins? The annual tab Ibra is 14 million. Also Ibra is a problematic player. It may involve putting a problem in the locker room.
His attitude is called "winning mentality" he damands alot from himself and from his team mates and in the end, he do more good than harm to his team.

Frustrating. I think it would be ideal to sell Dzeko and buy Negredo, but I can't see City buying Jovetic, Negredo and keeping Dzeko.

Personally I'd leave him where he is, and move on.

He's a good player, and would improve the side in a key area, but he's not a brilliant player - we shouldn't be bending over backwards and over-paying just to get him in. Particularly in light of the fact that his sell on value won't exactly be great as he's just about to turn 28.

We should stick to our valuation, and pursue other options rather than get drawn into a saga over a player who's really not worth it.

That's all we will be doing I suspect. Let's be honest, if Dzeko is staying, for a one striker system Aguero, Dzeko and Guidetti, with Jovetic more than able to play second striker, we're not exactly crying out for another centre forward. Especially seen as Dzeko rarely gets seriously injured.

Dzeko and Guidetti!

Guidetti is totally unproven and won't be fit for another two months.

I'd prefer to see Dzeko leave, but buying three forwards is asking too much.

Then we should look at a short term loanee until Guidetti is fit. That's assuming we even need more than 2 strikers + Jovetic for the first month of the season. I don't think this whole promoting youth rhetoric is completely hollow. Getting an academy graduate like Guidetti into the team would be huge. I was talking to an Ajax fan the other day who said he was genuinely impressive at Feyenoord, certainly good enough for 3rd/4th choice.

We really can't replace 75% of our whole strike force in one window (Two if you count that Balo left in January, even though he wasn't replaced). This is even assuming we need 4 out and out strikers, which as I say regarding a single striker system, I don't think we do. It was one of our big problems last year, having too many centre forwards and not enough versatile ACMs.

Is Negredo a better player than Carlito? - I think not- so the simple question is do you think Tevez out for £10 million and Negredo in for say £20 million is good business for City? Makes you think doesn't it - whichever way I look at it we have lost an A Grade player and are looking to replace him with at best a C+

I always thought Aguero was Tevez's replacement when Tevez was throwing hissy fits a couple of years back, then he did an about turn and we ended up with them both. For me he is Balotelli's replacement IMO.

That's not how it works these days and you know that. We bought kompany for 6m and lescott for 24mill.

Are we actually making serious. as in sensible, offers for some of these players?

I am still not convinced that we didn't screw up on Isco by fannying around.

How many better options do we have for a centre forward? We wouldn't pay the money for Cavani. We aren't going to pay the money for Ibra.

We need two strikers and an attacking midfielder IMO but I can already see us running out of time to sign them.

When I first found this site, you used to be calm, sensible & seemed to have a decent handle on things.

Feeling a touch provocative; must be the heat.

I know we have a new regime and they kicked off the window in fine style but, after last summer, I am taking nothing for granted. All's well that ends well but until it ends well.

I had hoped that we would have one more business by now so that we could get new players into the preseason training pretty much from the off. With a new manager, I think it is more useful than normal to have the squad together for the maximum possible time in preseason.

Didn't think the Sevilla chairman would hold us to ransom on this particular
deal. Seems like he's being a right stubborn twat.

Or we are deliberately offering less knowing he will refuse allowing us to look elsewhere if we are to sign another striker beside Jovetic.

We've managed to sell him at what is pretty much the right time, regardless of how good you think he still is.

- He lost a yard of pace when he returned from his golfing holiday.
- He will continue to lose pace as he gets older.
- He was in the last year of his contract and would have walked for nothing at the end of next season.

And for the last time - we are not replacing Tevez with Negredo. We are replacing Tevez with Jovetic because we failed to replace him with Isco.

Or we are which I'm fine with, we've made 2 good signings, with the new manager in plaice that could enough. Think we've made it clear were not going to over pay any more.

I don't know. I just think there's something very fishy going on.

Exactly. I thnk everyone's forgotten this. Having both was never meant to happen, and tbh it probably shackled us in subsequent transfer windows.

When transfers that should be a "done deal" drag on I always think there's something going on.
