biggest need first is defensive midfielder, preferably someone who is quick also as a lot of our midfielders can be a bit slow, someone to quicken the pace would be good. DM before someone like Gundogan.

I definately think we need a defensive midfielder who can help us push on in Europe.

Barry does a fantastic job of allowing Yaya to play his game whilst he sweeps up the mess, however in Europe I still think he has question marks over his head, with the main issue being his pace.

I also think English midfielders struggle to read technical and on the floor football that is typically found in Europe, in the PL you can get away with it a little as it's not the best technically the lower you go down the league and tactics sometimes are almost out of the window when you get your 'hoof' teams, its a percentages game then.

That's what I think anyway, I could be wrong but its just what I see.
Pretty much what I'm thinking of is someone with De Jong's tackling and defensive cover but at the sometime with a bit more attacking qualities. I have heard us linked with Paulinho from Corinthians, not really seen him but he might be an option. Heard about Kondogbia as well but again have seen very little. Fernandinho is another good one who did pretty good in UCL this season for Shakhtar Donetsk. My problem with a midfield duo of Gundogan and Yaya is the lack of defensive cover, honestly, I would much more prefer Gundogan as the long term replacement to Yaya as he ages.

I suspect that is the intended role for Rodwell if he stays healthy. I do agree with you, though. I sort of wish Madrid would go mad and sell Xabi Alonso to us.

I like him too and he'd do wonders at Chelsea but I'm quite sad that Dortmund is being gutted after building an incredible side without being a member of the cartel or needing the backing of a billionaire. Gotze (already gone), Lewandolski, Gundogan and Rues all heavily linked to moves. Enjoy them this season because I fear it'll be a few years until they're a force again after the vultures pick them clean. I hope they win the CL so this side has something to show for it.

Fernandinho who plays for Shakhtar Donetsk is another alternative to him, if not already mentioned. He was absolutely magnificent against us in both meetings in the CL - completely bossed both games. I don't watch them enough to know how consistent he is, but he was easily MoTM in both of our meetings.

I rate Gundogan but i think Fernandinho is the perfect man in City midfield if we switch to 4-3-3 from next season

We should break the bank for this fella!

This is the player we need, we need him more than Cavani ....... him alongside Fernandinho and Yaya in midfield with Silva.........incredible 4

oooohhh... more than Cavani? highly doubt that sir. Watch our entire season this year. It has not been about needing a Gündoğan type player. Gündoğan is supremo no doubt but Fernandinho will provide that De Jong aggression to boss the center of the park next season. What this season has lacked was not even chances, as we have proven Silva has created most chances per minutes than any other PL player this year... it was clinical and direct finishes.

Cavani is our one and only perfect solution to this problem, who can also become very marketable (as he is already considered as one of the best and consistent forwards in the world), very experienced in the 4-3-3 formation (which Txiki wants City to change to) and if you watched last nights Napoli-Inter game you would be begging Txiki to bring this man to city yourself. Cavani is the one man who will make Robin Van Pussy pipe down and be 2nd best in the league.

Mancini drools over Cavani for a very good reason.

If he's not ready to leave this year, we should try and get a first refusal on this lad with the Dzeko deal.

I'm sorry, but trying to be objective, why would a bigger club give us first refusal on one of their prized assets? It's not like a Brazilian club that needs to sell to keep the club afloat.
