“City in crisis”

I think Arsenal at the Etihad gave teams a blueprint of how to defend against this current City side. Most teams are doing that now, but are also attacking City, unlike Arsenal in the 2nd half of the match.
We had a first half against Sporting where they looked as bad defensively as we did, and we still couldn't score. I did want a penalty when Bernie had his shirt pulled and was then pushed over.

Bernardo Silva: “The good thing is that even though we lost these three games, we’re STILL IN GOOD POSITIONS in the Premier League and Champions League! WE HAVEN’T LOST ANYTHING! We’re still in the MAIN COMPETITIONS - we’re still fighting for EVERYTHING! But we need to DO BETTER, and our injured players need to come back - it’s just NOT GOOD ENOUGH AT THE MINUTE!”
The squad needs a big overall to be honest. And letting Palmer leave while bringing back a 34 year old Gundo says all that needs saying about our recent recruitment.

What have you seen to suggest another winning streak this time? Performances have dropped off arguably the most they ever have under pep. I don't recall players previously coming out saying that we are in a dark place.

There won’t be a winning streak like previous seasons, as you have rightly questioned in your reply. City will huff and puff until everyone who is injured is fit. And even then City will come up against some other teams who have got better and improved their team and squad. If City make some good signings in January, which is very hard unless City pay the asking price, City won’t sustain a title challenged and a good CL run.

Just seen Pep reply to a question about managing Brazil;
'After 1-4, I am no longer an option for Brazil. I, no no no, I have more than ever, I feel like lifting the team, getting back to our level.'
I thought that sounded positive news for the future ahead.

Lol at those people saying our previous teams were better when they moaned then that we weren't good enough! Just constant moaning. All that's happened is that the flappers and moaners now have something concrete to hang their flapping hat on.

For me, we've been here before... last season the title was lost by Xmas. Season before we couldn't find the right players.

By January when we've got all of the injuries out of the way, when we have a settled team for this season and new players have bedded in more.. Then I'll start worrying if things are going bad. I think I said the same last year.

There was that.

But not replacing Alvarez and going into a new season with just Haaland as the loan striker, was, and still is madness.

Very true but our major errors have been the failure to strengthen both full back positions and find a proper back up for Rodri. The way teams are playing through our midfield and defence is evidence of those failings. Even when we have everyone fit our best options are to play centre backs as full backs. How many years is it now since we had a proper left back ?
