“City in crisis”

Stephen Warnut.(ock)

It's more the way they are rolling over at the moment, there doesn't seem to be that defensive solidity, that organisation that we often look at Manchester City and praise them for.

They are tough to play against but we look at the form throughout the season this season and they have conceded a lot of goals. I think the fear element has gone out of a lot of teams now because teams used to look at Manchester City and say 'if we go at them, we leave ourselves open, we leave ourselves vulnerable, we will get beat 3-0'. But suddenly teams are saying 'we'll go for the game and if we get beat 3-0 at least we have had a go'.

Then you start to get a bit of progression in your game and you start to create opportunities and you think 'hang about, we can hurt these, we can cause them problems'. Maybe there is an element of that coming into the game as well.

I think Arsenal at the Etihad gave teams a blueprint of how to defend against this current City side. Most teams are doing that now, but are also attacking City, unlike Arsenal in the 2nd half of the match.

We have a small squad. It's injury-ravaged and a fair few of the players are on the wrong side of 30. The available players are asked to play 2-3 games weekly. It's not rocket science, is it? And nowt can be done about it until the January window. Well, folk can moan.
I suppose Pep could play Mcatee and a couple of others more regularly.

back in 2017/18 we lost on the Wednesday in CL QF at Liverpool, lost at home to Utd on the Saturday then lost home to Liverpool on the Tuesday, some people wrote us off and thought we could bottle the lead , we responded and followed that by winning away on Saturday at Spurs and finishing the season with 100 points, not saying we are going to be Centurions again but point i'm making is good team and proven winners do respond
What a load of tosh, nobody suggested that in the slightest

It has been the case the last 12 months or so. If you sit back we will try and pass you to death slowly. Arsenal this season was nothing new.

Pep has said himself publicly, and it’s been reported a lot by people close to him like Lu Martin and Pol Ballus, that he thought we might lose the 2018 title after throwing away the United game.

I’m at peace with things looking at the overall picture . We have issues this season no doubt about it . I can accept we’re going to have a a down period at some point and I reckon it will be this season. I’ll never rule us out but it’s looking like it’s going to be a tall order especially with the injuries and our talisman out for the season.

This is basically my feelings right now. It’s very hard to get worked up about the fact we might not win a 5th title in a row. We might have to wait a bit longer for Pep’s…NINETEENTH trophy at the club. Oh well!

If anything seeing how pep will scheme up ways to get out of this tactical mess will make the season a lot more enjoyable.

Utd are a club in a Crisis, City are on a bad run of form and missing some key players , maybe regressing to the means after unbelievable unbeaten run. It happens every now and then and seems to be followed by a winning streak. Usually happens around Xmas so a little bit earlier this time. 2 cup games not a huge deal, and a league loss against a decent Bournemouth team.
