“City in crisis”

I couldn't give a ticket away today for free and not for the first time. I genuinely don't think we've got enough local support whom are prepared to actually get off their arse and attend to fill the ground every week. If it wasn't for the JCL's we'd be hitting 35/40k every week which is what we had in the bad times. Thats our core loyal fanbase.

I looked at the South stand today on 85mins and it was half empty and thats the singing section, the kippax if you like. We moan about european fans being organised and conformed to sing on cue, we moan at drums, we moan at JCL's, we moan at the layout and acoustics of the stadium, we moan at the cheese before the game and on and on we fucking moan.

I think most people don't sing because yes modern football is sanitised and maybe its a bit embarassing singing next to somebody in plain sight, i dont know but if people just decided to fuck with all of that and sang it would create a ripple effect. What this team has given us the last 10yrs is off the scale and they need us vocally now more than ever.
Shouting and singing won't make us a better team. If that was the case we would of won the league in the 1970's.

It’s great that we’ll be spending big again this summer, but the problem is there just aren’t enough truly top-quality players around. These days, it feels like players are more manufactured than ever. We’re looking for a certain type, guys like David Silva, KDB, Iniesta, Xavi. Smart, intelligent, creative playmakers. But honestly, I don’t see many of those in the game right now.
If we settle for players like Nunes, the drop in quality will be huge. So yeah, there’s definitely reason to worry, even if we’re ready to splash the cash.

Your job is not to identify them players. Its the job of people being paid shitloads at the club. Silva and KDB were a punt that turned out good. But to say them players are not available is rubbish, we sold one to Chelsea for 40 million.

My take. And it's a forum at the end of the day.

We've set the bar so high, I think lots (including me) expect us to be the best every year. Unfortunately this year we're definitely not.

Issues for me are legs in midfield, absolutely poor recruiting when at the top of game and the decline of 2/3 club legends. Love them all but for me Walker/Bern/Gundo not as elite as they were, certainly not bad players.

We are absolutely not far off and dont think we've been over taken by other teams improving significantly better, we've just stood still, or worse.

1 maybe 2 good windows and I think we can be best team in world again.

Seen a lot worse. Chin up Blues.
I think that is a realistic view of things and clearly we not the same team as we were two or even one season ago despite starting 7-2-0 we really struggled to put away teams that we would have throttled especially at home in years gone by.

Rodri's loss is significant but I suspect he would even be playing in a team that is struggling to win games over this period when we have lost 5 on the spin something foreign to us for many a year now.

We can and I expect we will get the players in to replace the likes of KDB , BS, JS, KW, IG, maybe even JG that will stand us in good stead again come seasons end.

These are all aging players well past their prime and unable to play the number of games we need to now at the level required.

None of them are machines that you can just flick a switch and bring them back to their best after injury layoffs.

They have all lost a yard of pace , the heavy loads over a number of years playing for club and country twice a week simply catches up with and moments of magic become less frequent.

To some degree their longevity has meant we haven't brought in the new breed as quickly as we should have but when you are still going deep into the Chumps League and winning titles loyalty , sentiment and a reluctance to change even though its actually needed override the business and on field longer term strategy. It will take a season or two to adjust but I confident we will be competitive home and abroad once again.

We are not in a crisis, we are in a malaise, 23 shots yesterday yet no end result, the second half like lisbon, brighton and bournemouth felt.like nothing was happening, we were there but not really doing anything.

A steady performance and a couple of goals will snap us out of it.

This isn't a crisis it is football and how it goes sometimes

This is not a crisis compared to what happened to the club in the 90's. That was then and this is definitely a crisis for modern day City. I'm really glad that Pep changed his mind about extending his contract from one to two years. Gives him the opportunity to build again.
