“City Matters” fan committee

I think there should be a poll for IF Simon should resign from City Matter Committee and also issue an apology to both his fellow City Matters committee members and the Manchester City fans that he has misrepresented!!
As far as I am concerned he is a useless chairman and I will never take City Matters seriously again. I couldn’t now be arsed if he stays or if he goes, he is not the sort of City fan I have grown up with

Why haven't City Matters released a statement?

After all, they were elected by us, the fans.

Or do the Club have to vet and authorise what they put out first?

Any current City Matters Reps on BM care to comment?

I don’t think our club think of itself and its fanbase as one and the same thing, when they should.

When everyone on that board has retired, we’ll still be supporting this club while they probably won’t. It’s our club, they just happen to be working for it at this moment in time.

They need to change their attitude towards the fans.
Garry Cook was a walking disaster in many respects but the one thing he did have over the current regime was that he immediately recognised that the hardcore fanbase was the heartbeat of this club and its primary asset.
Soriano might be in a totally different league as a businessman but he has always seemed coldly detached from the supporters by comparison

I think the people at the club who put him in that unenviable position are more deserving of your opprobrium tbh

Nah. He could have seen this coming and said no. Or he could have experienced it and said don't bring me into it. Or he could have said send that and I quit. I assume he is an experienced individual. It's poor.

Presumably he thinks it is all OK, in which case he is doing a poor job representing the fans on this issue imo.

The executives presumably think they are doing right. Fans representatives need to put the fans point of view forcibly to the management to get them to understand. Otherwise, what's the point?

All that was needed was messaging to City fans from the City executives stating what isn't acceptable at the Etihad. Chants about the Sun, more specifically about Hillsborough, cause distress to some Liverpool fans and so are out of order. Bans will be handed out.

Done. No drama. Everyone would agree with that and be on board. What the fuck is the rest of the messaging in that e-mail about?

It comes to something when the Chair of City Matters should be less trusting of the club in the future.(as you say) What credibility the club has, including the City Matters group, after this and the Liverpool surrender email, is damaged once again. How many more times? On both counts it's yet another PR cluster-fuck by the club.

That aside, why are the club and the directors pulling secretive stunts like this? Is there anything they can't do in public and honestly? Or is the whole setup at City based on secrecy, misinformation, lies, and a big continual f*ck off towards the fans?

Separate them both. I'm grateful for the success on the pitch. But the way the club is run, especially towards the fans, is nothing short of a f*cking shambles, has been for years, with little or no honesty and improvement insight. Isn't that right, Khaldoon and Soriano?

‘The way the club is run is a shambles’. Jesus, wonder what you thought under Swales, Lee, Bernstein etc.

The way the club is run is the envy of every other football club in the world. 1 letter asking fans to behave changes nothing.

Ridiculous overreaction.

Well done Ferran !

I think it’s acceptable to be more than happy with 95% of what the higher ups have done for our club but still be able to call them out when we think they have dropped the ball.
Sadly, the few things that they don’t get right tend to concern the most important aspect of any club - the fan base.

I'm not really sure when the posters on here and City fans in general will start to understand that the senior management of the club couldn't give a flying fuck about the normal, match going 'legacy fans'? They never have done and it is clear they never will. City Matters and all the other similar stuff are just gimmicks to appease (and in my opinion to also patronise) the fans. For them it's about revenue. Money. Corporate hospitality - anything that can be monetised. They are no different to any other top club and why do we think they should be? The sooner this is accepted the easier for us it will be. I learnt the hard way. 45 year season ticket holder and booted out of CB L1 for the tunnel club with a brief email and a crappy 'take it or leave it' offer and a lot of other fans have also had the same. The way this has been handled tells us all everything we need to know how the management of how the club regard the fans. As I say, they couldn't give a fuck. Every game is a sell out these days. They can get more money for your seat ticket from some day tripper who buys a half and half scarf when he arrives at the Etihad and watches the game through their phone and then exits via the club shop to buy a load of over priced, expensive tat on their way out. It's what we have become.
This totally. Say this though and youre labeled an ingrate.
Doff your cap and thank the sheik you pleb.
