“City Matters” fan committee

In other news Russia and Ukraine have issued a joint statement regarding the behaviour of their leaders and soldiers stating that some of their previous behaviour has not been best ever.

Probably much more chance of that than ever hearing an apology or an acknowledgement of their guilt , from anybody associated with the dippers.

I think it’s acceptable to be more than happy with 95% of what the higher ups have done for our club but still be able to call them out when we think they have dropped the ball.
Sadly, the few things that they don’t get right tend to concern the most important aspect of any club - the fan base.

Oh yes 100% agree with that, but to say we are a fucking shambles over an email is a huge overreaction. People on here just want to complain about anything the club does, people kicked off when they gave away half price beer saying it was just because they wanted to clear old stock.

What’s my blood pressure for to do with it? I’d dare say my blood pressure is at a lower level than your pomposity. I don’t know a single City fan who is at ease with City’s and your committee’s pathetic pandering to liverpool fc. As regards being on a committee where it’s appalling leader ignore you, well more fool you. liverpool, it’s owners, its directors and it’s feral supporters have bricked our buses, hacked our database, thrown piss all over our fans, bad mouthed us and our owners, never a word of apology, and we have a City Matters committee who are party to grovelling, guilt-accepting shit like this. It’s not about blood pressure, it’s about respect for City (and frankly a complete distaste for liverpool fc)
See my previous posts on the matter (and I know more about what they've been up to than most) where I completely agree with you on the way we've handled this. I used the word 'pusillanimous' and I think that's being charitable to be honest. So we're definitely on the same page here.

I'm not involved any more officially but I'd made my position quite clear to the group when Sam Lee made his initial suggestion of a meeting. I wasn't prepared to get involved in any way and when we started CM four years ago, we agreed that we'd only proceed with things where we had broad agreement among the full group. Simon is a good guy, gets a lot done but was very stupid, got his arse well and truly kicked by the CM reps from what I've seen, and has learned his lesson. We don't need polls, the stocks, walks of shame or anything like that. It's a matter for him and the other nine reps, none of whom have suggested he resigns.

As I always say to people who complain about the way CM or the OSC approach things, they're groups where there's elections and you're free to stand in those. Or alternatively, set up a Supporters Trust or similar. We're the only one of the big clubs that doesn't have one, which suggests to me that City fans love a good moan but don't want to step forward and be counted.

Simon is clearly a dick, City Matters is a sham (a club puppet at best). I love City to bits, but I have never felt the need to be in a supporters club, and I don’t have the desire to be on a simple simons committee, I am just a City fan, who happens to think the club has been utterly fucking stupid in this matter. And by the way just what the fuck has Sam Lee got to do with City? He really is a ****. City fans matter, City Matters doesn’t, and I’d be gobsmacked if the vast majority of Blues feel it has any credibility left, if it ever had any. Simon who?

PS I think you said earlier that (simple) Simon did what he did without telling the other 9 reps, but the other 9 reps still have faith in him, fucking lol

At least we have finally found someone less competent than Liz Truss

I know where your coming from PB being any form of a representative your dammed if you do dammed if you don’t I’ve been a union rep for ten years so know more than anyone, but what’s got me please correct me if I’m wrong the club did contact one main rep and not the others in keeping this a secret?? I’ve been upstairs too many occasions in work in a don’t tell the shop floor basis … at that point I walk out. Being a representative in any format is a big job not mainly putting your own views forward, but the masses you represent. Hope the guy caught up in this is ok . But fook me the club have produced a Fooking right shit show here. I’ll take the emotions out of It PB and no way directed at yourself. Genuinely feel pain in my stomach where the club have kicked me so hard in the bollox.

‘The way the club is run is a shambles’. Jesus, wonder what you thought under Swales, Lee, Bernstein etc.

The way the club is run is the envy of every other football club in the world. 1 letter asking fans to behave changes nothing.

Ridiculous overreaction.

There have been plenty of other instances where the club have pissed the fans off. Entering the European Super League. The general sh*t handling of moving fans out of their seats to make way for new corporate areas. The ticket office fiasco. City Matters and how it’s run.Etc.

I did give the club credit for what they’ve done on the pitch. What they’ve done for the local community, charities, investment in East Manchester, etc.

Unfortunately the club still can’t seem get liaising with the fans right, even though it‘s one of the easiest things to do. Certainly not to the level that Liverpool do with their fans. Oh the irony!

For those of us who have no idea how these things work, why would Sam Lee be involved in suggesting meetings ? I thought he was a journalist for the Athletic ? Does he have influence at Manchester City - is he in close contact with supporters' groups ? The meeting you refer to - was that between City's board and City Matters ? I'm just keen to understand more about the backdrop to this sequence of events.
