A source? Josephus wrote his Antiquities of the Jews in or around 90-100AD. He mentions Moses as historical fact as well as mentioning a brother of Christ at least 50 years after Jesus supposedly died.

Another chronicler, Hegesippus, wrote about James as well. In or around 170AD.

Do you see what I'm getting at?

There are no contemporary works from the time of Jesus that mention him by name and this is in a time when the ruling classes wrote everything down right up to a replacement hobnail for a boot worn by a Centurian.

Fair enough. I’ve no problem with people disagreeing with it, I just can’t understand how angry some get about disagreeing.

The name point, if they were manufacturing the story, then they would have called Him “Emmanuel”, as that was the prophecy in the Old Testament.

St Paul’s letters and even the word of mouth accounts all say Jesus (well the translated version of Jesus), I think we can be pretty confident of the name.
