The vast majority believe a man existed who preached and then was crucified. There’s much more evidence for Jesus existing than many other historical figures that are taken as absolutely existing.
Among atheist scholars, the vast majority thing he existed and was crucified.
Having historical evidence of someone existing 30 years after they died in a ancient times is seen as a given they existed, for any other person.
Atheists go on about evidence and measuring and accuracy and yet ignore the facts on this subject, the fact being there’s barely an atheist scholar alive who thinks Jesus didn’t exist and wasn’t crucified.
That man is the basis for an entire religion.
As far as a name goes?
Nope. We have no idea.
What we do have is a load of texts written around 30 or so years after the events took place by people who weren't there but relied on word of mouth. Word of mouth in a world that was 98% illiterate. Word of mouth with a spreading religion that needed a figurehead. A man of the people. A common man. A man to appeal to the great unwashed.
To keep these people onside they, like other religions, nicked thoughts/ ideas from previous religions to ease the unwashed in gently.
To put it all into perspective I'm going to tell you that in the last 60 years we put a man on the moon. A great man. Truly a man amongst men. He was chosen because he was great. A man to look up to. I'm not going to tell you how, why or when exactly because that's for you to fill the gaps in. But keep it heroic as it will be read out in surmons, gatherings etc etc. The only thing you know is his name. Neil. Or it could have been Buzz. Or the other one. And they worked for the nasty NASA.
So there's your facts. Man on the moon. A choice of names. A random date. A governing power who wrote everything down but neglected to do so this time.
Off you go dear Ban. Write me a story based on the above.
