12 games in and some on here can't wait for him to be our new Steve Daley. Tragic really.
this is it. if Grealish does not contibute well. the blame should clearly fall on pep for not using him properly. It feels strange to defend Grealish by saying he'll improve with time once he gets used to Pep's system because I actually think he's been playing really well already, but I do think he needs to be moved centrally and Foden back out wide for things to really unlock. Grealish is a creative, a bit of a maverick, a ball-carrier - Pep's ideas for wingers do go against his natural instincts and I'd like to see him moved towards the middle so he can start to influence the entire game rather than just our attacking moves.
I don't think it's a case of Grealish not contributing either. He's been directly involved in 5 goals in 14 appearances, he's won the Bluemoon Man of the Match poll twice, and so far his worst performance in a blue shirt was away at Anfield where a better refereeing performance would have seen us come away with a win anyway.this is it. if Grealish does not contibute well. the blame should clearly fall on pep for not using him properly.
Yup. And I’d add that anyone writing any of those three off as shit buys at this stage is being a tad premature.I'm afraid thats not how football works, Chelsea has paid almost the same money for Lukaku and he has 3 goals in 7 games so far. Keep in mind hes a CF and scoring goals is mostly what hes supposed to do.
United has paid 70 mil for Sancho and he has zero goals , zero assists and 0 contribution overall.
Would argue that Grealish has been better than both so far as overall contribution.
exactly Jack is someone who like to get on the ball a lot in the middle and drive the team forward. he is not someone who was supposed to be told to hug the touchline and bet his man with pace and get to to the byline to cross. it was never his game, I am not sure Pep has seen Jack play before form the way he is trying to use him. I blame Pep more than Jack for his lack of impact till now. but considering all this I still fell Jack is playing well, not great but well enough.I don't think it's a case of Grealish not contributing either. He's barely been given a chance to get going but has still been playing pretty well, and considering he's sort of out of position I'd say he's been doing really well. I think a lot of peoples' perceptions of him have been affected by the Euros, where he was mostly used as a wildcard option late into games - that's not really what he is for us.
To hear some, you’d think he is our Arthur Daley:)12 games in and some on here can't wait for him to be our new Steve Daley. Tragic really.
Except Sane was really exciting to watchThe discipline has to come before the genius otherwise it's scattergun which is not as effective. That's why it takes players a year or so to settle into the system. Once the player has acquired that discipline, only then can he be set free. My view is that Sane, for example, never acquired that discipline.
Who cares about the dippers , they dont play like us at all and pep will adjust as he wantsI always felt that in a false 9 system, the wingers would be given more freedom to cut in rather than sticking out wide. Having the wingers hugging the touchline seems pointless as it reduces the goal threat. Look at Liverpool, Salah and Mane cut in frequently and Firmino drops deep and then the fullbacks provide width. Pep is going to have to change his tactics mid-season
I mean going off history Pep doesn't just play players for the sake of it. We've seen him stubbornly keep players out of the team before if he doesn't think they're of a good enough standard in that moment. Not having a go at Grealish here but what options does the manager have?
Sterling, form gone, Mahrez struggling , KDB knackered, Torres injured, Zinch injured.
A fit Grealish is almost guaranteed to start because of these issues.
but he does have a point @kaz7, if you play inverted wingers their main strength is to come inside and have many options to pass or shoot, having overlapping fulbacks are necessary for that as well. there is no point in having inverted wingers high and out wide.Who cares about the dippers , they dont play like us at all and pep will adjust as he wants
