to people saying "don't blame jack, blame the lack of a striker" - perhaps now is a good time to admit that this transfer window has been an utter disaster of poor decisions, in particular the decision to sign jack instead of a striker?

That's not what we happened. It was never either/or.

No the 2 things he did were to do with having pace and a left foot. Not stopping and slowing it down every time. Foden still by far the best left sided attacker at the club and the only one that offers some width to our very narrow play.

But he did them in a 2 minute spell then didn’t use his pace or left foot for the rest of the game.

Grealish and Foden can’t create if we have no striker.

A good through ball or cross is only as good as the runs being made and we don’t make them with this false 9 system.

Looked a bit out of his depth.
Nowt to worry about, sure he‘ll adapt quickly. But seemed a little overawed tonight.

How do you know? maybe they thought that if they can sell players they can afford both grealish and a striker, but then didn't sell players so couldn't afford a striker. if they didn't sign grealish, we could have afforded a striker.

With a striker in the side we win the match today and vs southampton, easy as that.

In what universe did we decide to sign Grealish instead of a striker? Whether we signed Grealish or not, our valuation of Kane remains the same. We had the money to buy both players at our max prices based on their value to us. But our max price was not acceptable to them. It wouldn’t have been acceptable to them if we didn’t sign Grealish either. There is literally no link between the deals.

Don't forget he doesn't have a lot of experience in big CL games, he will learn a lot from this experience and even so I thought he was ok. A big time player who will get better and better, he will be very important when we get to the knock out stages.

Not disagreeing with that about the system and think Grealish is a class act. What worries me is he makes us even more narrow out there and doesn’t attack his man quickly enough for us. Teams are so quick to get everyone behind the ball against us whenever we get our wide attacker one on one he needs to drive at them. My other concern is I don’t think he’ll get enough goals and assists from out there.

Except we only wanted one striker. Kane. We weren't going to pay 200m. So it doesn't matter what we signed Grealish for.

Kane was the only striker target, and we were priced out of the market. It was either Grealish and Kane or just Grealish
