Was clinging to hope that he'd show us what he's about this season especially with having a striker to play off of. Instead he's playing exactly as he did 12 months ago, sideways, backwards and shots at shins. If he was like 22 or under you could push the still learning/young and raw narrative. He's fucking 27, he's just not going to improve to a point where he's consistently providing goals and assists in this team.
He's not good enough, he's not adaptable and he's just slow and one dimensional.
100mil for an English Nolito

I don’t think he fits anywhere in peps systems. His effort is not at the level. I don’t think he works hard enough in closing down and making space to make up for his lack of contribution to the assist/goal tally.

To be fair to Jack, he is never a winger, so it has to be frustrating for him right now.

But Foden, Bernardo, Palmer & Alvarez aren’t natural wingers either. But they have an urgency that Grealish just doesn’t seem to have. An energy he simply can’t deliver.

There’s talent there, but talent isn’t enough for this side.

There can't be many excuses left.

With Jack I don’t get the impression that he’s not trying or not putting the effort in.

I could be wrong but I get the impression he is playing to order. I can’t claim that he played well tonight ( up to them scoring did anyone play well) he got substituted after all but if he was that bad for City would Pep constantly pick him.

I don’t think we are going to get the Grealish that carried Villa because he doesn’t need to.

There is room for improvement but I don’t think he’s as bad as some are making out. Perhaps a bit more patience is required despite the transfer fee.

I would still argue all of them are far better suited to that role than Grealish, and most would start as a winger at most other clubs.

The issue with Jack is he is a CM/AM that thrives with 360 degrees of freedom, and on the wing he has half that, and often instructions to retain the ball.

There was a point in the first half when they were on the counter and he and Cancelo just allowed the cross to come in with very little effort to stop it. If it’s not coming off for you then you have to absolutely work your nuts off.
