But he is playing to instruction.

Sterling used to get hammered for not doing certain things. The thing is though he was told not to do them.

The trophy cabinet proves Pep right.
There are certain things the coach can not teach. Look at KDB, Haaland, and Bernardo. When they are in the pitch they take risk and play their own. Jack is currently struggling and he needs goals, otherwise the notion that is he is good guy and blah blah no one will ever remember that trust me

It's a forum. Neither of us know what the manager thinks and asks of players. This is literally the place for what fans think.

And he's been dropped from the starting lineup plenty of times.
The manager has said many times what he thinks, many posters seem to ignore that and want Grealish to play like he did at Vila. Can he improve and get the balance better yes, is Pep dissapointed, he keeps picking him so no.

I am no tactical expert and Pep for some reason doesn’t tell me his thinking

So my belief he is playing to instructions is based on;

1. Pep is still picking him.
2. Pep is saying he’s happy with his performances
3. From what I see Peps teams like to keep possession and control the pace of a game and Grealish does help this.
4. Apart from Messi has any Pep player constantly tried to take opponents on?

Now I am sure Pep is not telling Grealish to be slow to get a shot away etc and there is room for improvement. But he doesn’t need to play like he did for Villa.

Probably find out he’s been dropped today!

I agree that he doesn't need to play like he did at Villa in terms of making himself the focal point of everything but he does need to show more on the ball than he has been doing overall.

And I hope he does start today because I feel like he needs find his rhythm. They're a difficult team to break down and if he plays a role in that then it will do his confidence the world of good.

What Pep says is press conferences is very often completely different to what he thinks. Personally I find it hard to believe Pep is happy with his £100m man contributing fewer attacking returns than Rodri.

Doesn't matter what fans think, at the end of the day he only satisfy what managers demand from him in order to keep his place in the team.

The moment he ignored what manager instructed for him is the moment he will be dropped from starting lineup.
True to an extent, but also have to consider the opposition and what threats they bring. Pep selects horses for courses

Impressed with the way Pep has backed Grealish all the way in his press conferences , he knows the knives are out for Jack and i think that is why he will start Jack against Wolves he will not bow down to any media narrative , would love Grealish to ram the taunts down the throats of his critics and pay back the loyalty Pep has shown to him , starting today at Wolves.

Robben, Ribery and Henry
Fair point but I think they were, especially the latter 2 speed merchants (as well as being blessed with other skills) who ala Sane and Sterling got behind teams. Grealish is not going to do that.

Anywhere this thread will take a drastic turn later on today after his hat trick !
