Sterling got slated for doing a hell of alot more than Grealish let's put it that way, if he wasn't bought for goals or assists or even pre assist he's a waste of 100m wide left.

If we want him to win free kicks just get Gareth Barry out of retirement.
Nasri and Barry where the best at protecting the ball and winning free kicks, back then it didn't matter but now it seems to be more important than goals and assists.

I agree.

I’ve grown to like Grealish a bit more as a person since he’s come to City, but if we were reading RAWK or RedCafe threads about a player signed for £100m, and they were saying “yeah he doesn’t get assists, or goals, but he makes space and can pass on the overlap”, we’d be laughing our bollocks off at them.
Thank you for telling it like it is. Lately it's been hard to find that on this forum.

The issue I have with his "fans" is the abuse he gets from our fan base?

What abuse?

Considering his performances he has has zero abuse and from what I see total support from everyone involved with this club.

The amount of abuse a certain MR Raheem Sterling got was an embarrassment for a player that contributed hugely in goals and assists for a huge period of his time in blue.

If Jack Grealish gets half of Raheem's goals/assists in his time with us, I would be ecstatic.

Come to think of it, If we really want someone to protect the ball and win free kicks, why don't we go for that Akinfenwa guy? You know, the one with Wycombe. He's built like a water buffalo and can protect the ball from 5 players at once.

I mean really, who needs goals and assists when you can protect the ball and win free kicks, right?

I just want a wide player that every now and again takes on his defender, puts him on his arse and then crosses the ball to the big , daft, Viking to smash into the net.

At least get your facts right. You can't just make stuff up.
You could answer me and I'm not making stuff up the wages and agents fee is what's been reported and he's got 4 goals and 3 assists in the prem so far?

So far no one has answered the question, what a surprise.

Their is an article in todays Mail, stating his performance yesterday shows why he should be part of the England starting 11, has to be written by his agent.

Anyone who thinks that Grealish has been anything less than a disappointment in sky blue is kidding themselves.

Never ratted him as a player but he is so much better than we are witnessing.
Or jus

Thats why Pep is the best coach in football While we just rat on the internet. Just that some of us realise

You are making stuff up, though. Either that or you're just selectively quoting "reported" figures that suit your argument best while ignoring all of the other "reported" figures that don't.

His salary has been estimated to be anywhere between £200k and £300k since he signed for us. The agent fees have been reported as being anything between £10m and £35m.

You've also waited until now to say that it's 4 goals and 3 assists in the Premier League, rather than his overall total, which is what you implied in your original post. Sneaky.

He's also not been here 18 months. We signed him in August 2021. That was 14 months ago. He won't hit 18 months until February, at which point he'll be another 20 games (roughly) into his time here.

Anyway, do I want more G/A contributions from him? Absolutely. But I'd expect more than 10 G/A contributions from any of our attacking players, regardless of what they cost.

But I've never argued the opposite and I've never said that goals and assist don't matter. What I have argued is that Grealish mostly makes up for his shortcomings in other areas of his game.

He's been a good signing. A great signing? No. But he's been solid. Could he bring a bit more? Yes. Has he brought enough to the table as a team player? Yes. He's been a 7/10 player thus far.

We didn't pay £100m for Grealish because we thought he'd be the best player in our history, we paid £100m to Villa because we wanted him in our squad and that's what they charged us.

If you'd told me in August 2021 that he'd have 10 G/A contributions by this point, I'd be a little disappointed because, as I said, I just expect better numbers from our forward players.

But if you'd told me that, at the same time, we'd win the Premier League with 93 points while Grealish started the majority of games, topping the league by the end of October 2022, I'd be just fine.

In fact, I'd be curious to look out for other areas of his game where he improved the rest of the team.
