We bought him because Peps obsessed with him, that article about Peps extension had a chunk of info about why we signed Grealish, that Pep would constantly talk about him to Txiki. Was always in the topic of conversation between them. How he wanted to play Jack as a false 9 etc. Pep wanted him badly
If his wanting him bordered on an obsession, then that's a worry. Because as of now he hasn't got a clue how to utilize him, and obsession would suggest he's going to stubbornly play him for the foreseeable, which is detrimental to the team. He needs to either get over this obsession and realise it was misguided, or do what he's paid handsomely to do and find Jack's optimum position. If his form carries on much longer then the recruitment team and Pep will have to collectively hold their hands up, admit they got it wrong, and move him on.

Pep looks has developed new found obsession to sign English players. This obsession has already put £140m hole in squad so far when we still have critical holes to fill
The Philips signing was lunacy. Just a colossal waste of money and squad space.

I watched videos like this of Grealish before we bought him. Ive watched the whole thing again just now and still wonder the same (why we bought him). Regardless of position, there is nothing there (or from what we have seen of him in a city shirt) that makes him stand out in any way.....He is an average professional footballer. There is nothing in that video 'highlights' that any of our players current (and past) cannt do better. and more consistently.

KDB - better at everything, other than maybe (and I say maybe) in very tight spaces
Foden - better dribbler - can actually beat a man, beater goal scorer, better in tight spaces, better passer (especially in tight spaces)
Gundo - infinitely better at everything accept driving forward with the ball.
Alvarez - can play from the left or right, better goal scorer, better dribbler, good at running with the ball, can drop deep to link the play
Bernardo - better dribbler, better runner with the ball, better ball retention and better goal scorer and better progressive passer.

Sterling - better goal scorer in our team, better dribbler in that he at least (and succeeded at times) at beating a man, better assists. Fustrating player but at elast he was aggressive in the final third and scored goals.
Jesus - better at everything (ncluding goal scoring which for a striker he as poor at) - I include him cause he could play from the left as well and deeper if required to link play)

Zinchenko showed more in an advanced position in the odd time he played there for us than Grealish has!!!

The only other player to compare him to is Mahrez - and he is equally poor and ineffective in the majority of games as well.

All of them (baring Sterling) retain the ball just as well and would do even better if they played like Grealish....ie constantly slowing everything down, making sideways none aggressive passes or turning back towards his own goal and dribbling backwards and passing square or backwards....

David Silva - I also bet he was fouled just as much but didnt fall over and therefore didnt get the fouls - infact ive never seen a player kicked as much as David Silva). Id rather have David Silva at the age he is now than Grealish (and Silva would be as effecive no matter where you played him as would virtually all the others mentioned above.

If the argument is still that he is playing out of position then Im sorry, he shouldnt be in any position as all the other players are better than him at virtually everything.

Edit - I forgot Sane - better goal scorer, dribbler and progressive passer and better with assists...poor ball retention and positional play at times however.

Sorry mate but I had to sack reading when you referred to him as an average professional footballer.

We haven’t had one of them for about 12 years now and certainly don’t smash our transfer record to acquire them.

I wonder how much longer Pep and City are going to pretend that he contributes anything before we sign an actual top class wide forward?

No it wasn't. He's been unlucky with injuries so far, definitely, but we needed back-up to Rodri and Phillips was an ideal option.
It wasn't ideal though, that's the point. He'd already been plagued with injuries before his arrival so that wasn't likely to change. And for the price we paid I refuse to believe there weren't better options on the continent; he's a semi-decent midfielder, nothing more.

I can’t understand as City fans why we are being subjected to this shit, Pep has said before many times that in the final third it’s not about his coaching it’s all down to the players being brave.

Pep in the past has had electric players like Henry, Etoo, Villa, Sane, Sterling, Foden play out wide but we’ve got this slow as fuck option who never scores.

My anger with the situation and Grealish is perhaps unfair on Jack, he’s just not good enough for that position and is being asked to play it, if we had no other options I’d perhaps understand. It’s almost like we’re handicapping Haaland by not giving him the best support on both wings.

Why Pep is continuing to play Grealish on the left wing and Mahrez in the right is totally baffling. The only thing I can think of is he’s trying to make him the clear number 2 (3rd option) in that position as he’s just not good enough, this makes Foden undroppable or forces the board to spend big on a proper pacey goal scoring front 3 player. I honestly don’t know as that doesn’t make sense but this shit needs to stop pronto, but like it or lump it we’re stuck with Jack until the end of his contract due to his huge salary and fee.

I hope Pep is as pissed off as us fans and sees that Jack simply isn’t good enough to play front 3 for an elite club, would Pep have played him in the front 3 for Barca, would he fuck!

The signing of Jack is playing out as our worst signing since the takeover
Your opinion on Grealish is your opinion but come on, "Subjected to this shit", "worst signing since the takeover". We've just won the league with Grealish in the squad, playing regularly at that. Do you have any idea how spoiled you sound? Have you forgotten where we've come from? Do you remember the likes of Santa Cruz, Wayne Bridge, Wilfried Bony, or how shite Boateng and Savic were when they were here?

I will agree if he plays a significant amount of games in the prem and CL. If he is a carabao/FA cup player then we should have kept Lavia and integrated him more.
