Good to see him do good, but he is nowhere near a 100 million footballer . He just does not have enough goals and assists in him. I see him more as an impact sub rather than a starter next year.

Measuring the ability of a footballer by those incredibly simplistic stats is as narrow minded as its gets.......and as for the impact sub nonsense,he has consistently been one of our best players since the New Year,so that gives little hope for anyone else........finally well done for completely missing the point, and the depth, associated with my 100m comment.

He’s happy to graft all game. Furthermore he is finally returning decent goal and assist stats although, as others say, those aren’t the only key metrics. Much of his contribution is missed if you focus too narrowly. Bernardo is another example.

I’d tend to use “impact substitutions” mainly for either waning senior players who’ve still got it or guys who generally show genius in flashes. And I’d use “non-impact substitutions” mainly for squad players plus up-and-coming youngsters when the game is already pretty safe.

That sounds like KDB.

That opening quote is exactly what I've been saying about him since he came.

Even without the goals and assists he was one of our most valuable attacking players in terms of keeping shape, distracting the opposition, setting the tempo, and organising the rest of the team - all while allowing us to keep the ball. Our 2nd goal against Chelsea in the League Cup earlier this season, the one Alvarez scored, starts with Grealish slowly carrying the ball over the halfway line, attracting a couple of Chelsea players, then suddenly switching the pace of the game completely. The ball's in the net 10 seconds later.

See here:

Now he's added goals and assists and is one of our most important players right now.

I think people had this idea that Grealish would only become useful to City once he started banging in the goals and getting big game-changing assists, but he was already very useful. The additional goals and assists haven't turned him into a decent squad player, they've made him undroppable (and even then, he's still not that prolific). It wasn't the case that goals and assists would finally make him a decent player for us, it was the case that goals and assists would put him in the starting XI every week and make him one of our very best.

Well said.

Last Saturday he gave away the ball relatively cheaply at one point and the fact I was slightly shocked speaks volumes about his quality and value. There have been so many occasions recently where Jack has got his foot on the ball and I've thought 'thank fuck for that' and actively relaxed because I knew some good will come of it. Pep has been banging on for ages about the control he gives us, it's almost like he knows what he's doing with players!
