He came off bang on the hour. It was clearly a scheduled sub so I'm sure he wasn't bothered about that.

It was probably just something that happened on the pitch he wasn't happy with.
It's as if some posters who have spent 12 months telling us he's shit have to find something other to be negative about when he plays well.

Showed some real glimpses of what he can do last night and worked very hard off the ball. Was good to see him back, he just absorbs pressure and allows others to glide into space. He was disappointed because he probably felt like he left a goal out there, having lost the ball a few times when on one of his silky runs. Didn't quite happen for him but he was excellent and good to see him wanting to do more - he knows goals and assists are how he will be judged and he wants to start delivering, that can only be good news for us.

I thought the "one game" he needed was the derby last season, he was superb, by far his best performance in our shirt, I genuinely thought that was that would kick start his time with us, sadly that was not the case.
Agreed.

Shame he was injured in and around that game. Was missing the three weeks before it, came back in and played a blinder, and I think he was excellent against Palace in the next game but Bernardo missed them two sitters he put on a plate for him in the second half. Then he picked up another injury and ended up missing the Liverpool game?

Thought Jack really started to come into his own towards the end of last season and so far this year he's really carried it on. Would not have won the league without him last year and it's no coincidence we've comfortably won both the games he's started this season (both away from home, both clean sheets, aggregate of 6-0).

He could have been a bit sharper in places last night, I thought. But his overall play was great and there are signs of him really beginning to relish having Haaland and Kevin breaking the lines in front of him. I think he's valuable even without "goal contributions" but if he can hit 10 goals/10 assists this year it would shut a lot of people up.

There were two moments in the game where I think he really showed how much of an excellent out-ball he is. The first one was in the first half, when he popped up above a Sevilla player to nick it with his head and nudge it on to Haaland to start an attack. Then there was one in the second half where he controlled it twice with his head to gain us some territory. He's brilliant at moving us up the pitch and setting the tempo.

It’s a shame he’s getting told to play this way…. Receive ball out wide, advance 10 paces, stop and pass it backwards and inside. Repeat. But Pep knows best.

He was one of our most progressive passers yesterday.

Absolutely quality. Tried the risky ball a few times and pulled them off. Was really impressed with him!

I'd be amazed if he doesn't play again at the weekend. Pep is good at this, giving good players games to establish their form. He's not one of those dickhead managers with that "you play shit you're dropped" attitudes which can't work at a club like City.

His problem is that his effectiveness and contribution to the team and results is not even 50% of KdB, Phil, Bernardo, Gundo or even Riyad when they are on the top of their game.

Why is this not a permanent part of the banner at the top of the page??:-)

I think that depends entirely on how you measure effectiveness and contribution to the team.

I love all those players and what they do for us but I think they all have different functions within the team, and Jack's is different again.

he definitely did not play like that today was more direct than even foden

Yeah was good to see him going at defenders again . Bit more of that and the assists and goals will come. It’s not as if he’s daft and will attempt to dribble in his own half and nobody if asking him to. More of what he was trying yesterday should be encouraged
