Neither is there when Alvarez, Lewis, Palmer, Wilson-Esbrand, Gomez play, so not sure what your argument is.

The big daft viking has not played for the last two victories, so are we better without him?

We are a magnificent team whoever plays, but Grealish has to produce more in goals or assists.
G & A are largely misleading stats; it's a WHOLE team effort and Grealish is part of that.

If people like Keeper haven't worked out by now that Pep doesn't suffer fools then they never will.

It reminds me of the shit Walker used to get when he had rough patches of form in the early days. "He's not good enough technically, all he can do is run quickly". It was nonsense then and it's nonsense now about Jack.

"He's not good enough, all he does is jink about and pass it sideways". If that was the case he'd have been flogged to the highest bidder in the summer. We have proper depth in quality on the wings and yet Grealish starts regularly.

Grealish wouldn't last in Pep's squad (and he certainly wouldn't get in Pep's starting XI) if he didn't pull his weight and contribute to the team effort. That's why your likes of Nolito, Sané, Torres etc. were shipped off.

Do I think Grealish could be a bit more dangerous on a regular basis? Yeah. A player of his quality, in his position, should be contributing to 20 G/A per season. His underlying figures are good but his key contributions are lacking.

But he started the majority of games for us in the Premier League last season during a year where we hit 93 points. You don't do that if you're no good. He's clearly no slouch and Pep clearly likes him. I trust Pep.

The only person that matters is Pep, and he keeps picking him, so what does that tell you?
Other squad members need rest???
At this price, he’d better play him???
If he doesn’t play, what will it do to his worth in the transfer market when we sell him???

If you are saying every player plays because they are one of the best XI at the club, I have news for you.

Cat, meet pigeons!

People get too hung up on stats. They're useful for certain things but aren't a clear barometer for performance, especially in football.

Would anyone have taken Bruno Fernandes over Bernardo or Gundogan when he was banging in goals for United? Even though those goals masked the rest of his deficiencies?

Even KDB says in his masterclass that he's not bothered about certain stats. Listen to the king.

About five forum members refuse to acknowledge any positive contribution made by a specific player. The same happened in the Rodri thread, from a now silent group. The same happened in the Gundo thread, the Raz thread, the Mahrez thread...If we had a Boo Bowyer thread back then, we would have had the same.
It seems to be a peculiar quirk of our fanbase, and it taints us.
I see those who think he is yet to prove himself often acknowledge when he has shown glimpses of excellence. More bizarre is the handful who continually over inflate his impact on matches like yourself. I see myself as a City fan first and foremost and want what's best for my club not what's best for a so far sub par player.

Eh...

These discussions as they are right now are kind of pointless.

Feel free to have them, but the last 100+ pages are just each side saying an argument with no budging from the other, and worse, just repeated ad nauseum.

I was sure that I had already blocked you, having experienced the joy of your other player insights.

It's happening on the Mahrez right now! It's fucking hilarious. Absolute bias with no shame whatsoever.
All players have their short comings, some more than others.

On the whole, for the season so far, Mahrez is offering little more than the sublime first touch he’s always had, and is taking valuable minutes from Palmer’s development. Raheem showed, in the preceding 5 seasons, he was capable of far more than he produced in his final 2.

Expect Jack to be given the remainder of the season to prove he can cut it in this team, before his short comings become too hard to overlook, and those cutting him slack become increasingly critical.

Those short comings I assume to be end product and numbers. I actually think he’s been quietly effective, keeping possession, building play etc, though I fully accept we should be expecting more from a £100m player - it’s not his fault but it’s inescapable.

The only stat that matters in the end is whether they help us win games/trophies, and I think Grealish has done a lot of that so far. I think he puts too much pressure on himself to score and assist, in a way - obvious, that's good, I want him to do more of it - but the way he plays is just not about that. He's more of a situation-creator, where he doesn't get one of the last two touches of the ball before it hits the net, but he did find the dribble to progress the ball up the pitch and then find the perfect pass to turn the situation from "normal football" to "hold on, City might do something here." That's an important role and I genuinely think he's brilliant at it. All while losing possession very rarely.

Perfect for Pep.

No he wasn't,different posters had different opions about different players. Just like you seem to have very different opinions about Sterling and Grealish.
Sterling and Grealish should not be mentioned in the same breath at this time, who knows in the future?

Sterling was a hugely frustrating player at times but he was also a player who performed and produced incredible performances and results over a long period of time for club and country.

Of course they should, they are both City players and both do a job and both should get the same support.

If you believe Pep gives a shit if he cost 100m or 50pence then I have news for you as well.

I am saying our squad is very strong and we have several options across all positions and Pep still picks him. Says all you need to know.

Yeah this is my thoughts about Grealish

He gives me Nasri vibes, in the way that he is unreal on the ball, and never gives it away, and can go past defenders very stylishly without the need for pace

Nasti was similar in the way that he didn't get a lot of assists or goals, but offered so much to the team even though he had his critics
