Jack has been fantastic addition to the squad, we won the treble with him, Pep knows everything about him and it's like "closed chapter" for him.

Then Grealish should move on to another club or another manager if here is a "closed chapter".

Same for anyone. If you think there is nothing else left here, move on.

It is easy in hindsight to say Grealish should have started, but Chelsea swapped James for Gusto so Doku would have been up against a fresh full back anyway - one he would have probably rinsed. It was just one of those games. High energy, rain pouring and pure chaos at times. A brilliant game and a point isn't a bad result. Never feels that way when you are ahead so many times, but we defended really poorly today. Gvardiol had a shocker, Akanji and Dias weren't at their best and Walker wasn't great defensively either. Sometimes it happens like that. We lacked the control we usually have, which is understandable with Stones out - that's why he's such a huge miss for us. Grealish would have helped us control things, I always feel more comfortable when he's playing. He works well with Bernardo at keeping the ball and stretching the game. But he came on and helped win us the game last season and maybe Pep thought that would work again yesterday!

100%, he needs to start all the big games and then we can unleash Doku later
But it is impossible to maintain a player's rhythm and build chemistry with teammates if only playing in big games...need to practice in *small games first.

I don't think that Grealish has been given enough minutes or chances after his injury. Not necessary means to reduce Doku's minutes as we have already seen and confirmed by Pep they can play together.

Actually Grealish has ONLY started 3 PL games this season. Left back(and a decent one) vs Newcastle. MOTM vs Sheffield Utd. Brilliant performance at OT.

That is all. He did not get minutes even vs cherries at home. How can he obtain rhythm and build enough understanding with new teammates? If it is what the club has planned and Pep can offer, he should move to somewhere else to get enough minutes. Palmer is a fine example.

Did Pep make an example of him for that ridiculous dive I wonder?
I did have my suspicions. Because the last thing he did before he came off was have that tame shot when he could have squared it to Haaland or Bernardo. But I also think Pep put Grealish on to steady the ship a bit, which definitely worked initially but Chelsea just kept pushing and pushing. Even the addition of Kovacic for Alvarez didn't really calm things down either. Was just one of them games that was impossible to control in the end.

I hate this narrative from so many (not meaning to pick on you but this POV is representative) that Jack should do all the hard work and then Doku should come on when defenders are tired to prance about and get an easy assist/goal.

Firstly, any City fan should know that Jack HATES being taken off before the full 90 and he's already struggling for confidence after the number Pep's been doing on his head this season, pitting him unnecessarily against St Jeremy, especially as he was coming back from injury (some prize prickishness from Pep IMO, not to mention completely counter-productive with regards to Jack).

Secondly, why should St Jez get such favourable treatment? He's been with the club five minutes and been distinctly average to invisible in the couple of difficult games he's played (Arse and Chelsea). Jack was an essential part of our winning the treble so it would be nice if City fans could make an effort to give him the respect he deserves. He should be allowed to get confidence and rhythm without being sacrificed to benefit the shiny new toy.

Because he can score and assist?

Football's a meritocracy. The new 21-year-old in their first season in the league is taking something Jack struggles badly with and making it look not so impossible after all. He's starting because he's contributing and Jack isn't, it's hardly Pep's fault.

Not true, they both contribute in very different ways. I'd be very surprised if Jacks way isn't preffered for the next 2 games.
