It’s not just the media. I think some of it also is down to their rag mates taking the piss re: the fee.

Like you say, it’s not hugely important but needs pointing out now and then.

Because it’s relevant to the debate of whether or not he has met expectations. We entertain the cost debate when it comes to Akanji or Alvarez because both deals have surpassed expectations. So that goes both ways.

With respect to Jack, it’s also relevant because the fact we were willing to spend £100m suggests that we expected a great deal from him. It’s perfectly normal to discuss whether or not what HE has done in this team has been above or beneath the expectations of the club. It’s certainly not clear cut in either direction.
 
Can you imagine typing this bollocks. Just thought I'd skim through the bbc in match commentary. Nothing whatsoever about evertons fouls.
