Pep knows that Julian hasn't been at his best recently, but we don't want to discourage him and invite offers. Deep down we know Haaland *may* move in 1-2 seasons and few players are better to succeed him at City than Julian.
I understand long term planning but we can't possibly be looking that far down the road or not going with our best options in order to keep players happy. With Julien in the midfield we're OK against most teams but it's not working much at all against the more developed sides. It's placing a heavy, heavy burden on both Bernardo and Rodri and showing up more and more as the game wears on and they tire, especially Rodri...

He's good but we aren't as good with Doku. Sorry dibbling, nutmegging, fans.
There are more options available than just an either/or scenario between Doku and Grealish. One is Grealish on the left and Doku on the right with Phil behind Haaland instead of Julian...Another is Doku on the left and Phil on the right with Grealish in behind Erling...That's even with KDB, Kova, and Nunes being unavailable. We've always been about versatility within the squad...

We said Grealish coming in for Doku would steady the game against Chelsea. I’m sure that didn’t happen. Last year maybe but not so this year so far.

Too late for that. Most of the others were already out of stream.

If we go for control Grealish should start. Otherwise better keep him on the bench.

Sounds like Jack was nailed on to start today but became unwell overnight.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool now where he’s not started. Not a win amongst them. He’s about way more than control (bizarre that some on here still think that’s all he can offer, like last season never happened) and he’s a vital component to the way we play in the way Rodri, Stones, Bernardo et al are.

Hoping along with Stones he’s back fighting fit for Spurs.

Control is not all that’s needed in a game though. We may have control and do feck all with it. He needs to show that he deserves he starts whenever he gets the opportunity because he will be ultimately will be judged based on performances. If he does well enough, he will start. Doku on the other hand also needs to iron out his rough spots and demonstrate consistency at the top level if he can be truly relied upon.
