Stupid comment. He’s not remotely match fit and he worked hard.I don't think he should be shattered though.

AgreedAnother attribute to Jack's game is how well he reads the line.
He doesn't just blurt forward when he gets possession, he notices if we have enough players in attack, waits, then makes the appropriate/pass cross. It helps keep our attacks fluid and controlled, not haphazard.
How can he be not match fit when he's had the summer off and a full pre season ?Stupid comment. He’s not remotely match fit and he worked hard.

He’s played 20 minutes in a month, he had a minor injury which ruled him out of the Community Shield. How can he be not match fit when he's had the summer off and a full pre season ?
a guy who plays 70 minutes can't be "not remotely match fit", that's utter nonsense, he wasn't fully fit for 90 minutes sure but he was fit enough to play most of the game. He’s played 20 minutes in a month, he had a minor injury which ruled him out of the Community Shield.
How is it that hard to understand? Jesus Christ.
There's a difference between fitness and match fitness. How can he be not match fit when he's had the summer off and a full pre season ?
Of course, it's just that I've heard so many people here call players not fit with nothing to back it up, it annoys me.There's a difference between fitness and match fitness.
You can spend weeks in the gym but still get tired in your first match after that because there's no training that replicates the strain of 90 competitive minutes.
Match fitness only comes from playing matches. It's not just physical stamina although that's definitely part of it, it's also rhythm and mental sharpness, the ability to continually respond to changing circumstances and instructions. It's why nobody ever looks at their absolute best on the first match back from any kind of significant absence.
