10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

Pep got rid Of Sane because he was homesick and got tapped up by Bayern with a lucrative offer. Sterling was allowed to leave because he was throwing hissy fits and sulking because of being benched and not starting as much as he wanted.

Do you seriously think we signed Grealish for those reasons? If so you're clueless.
Not true, Sane got restless after Pep left him on the bench for much of the season before he got injured in the Charity shield. Grealish was bought and is played because of the contol he gives us. Same as why Bernardo is often played on the right side.

What, you want to be left to whine and moan about a player in peace. Sorry if I think people are chatting shite I'll be here to tell them. Obviously Pep knows better, to think otherwise shows the lack of self awareness I alluded to.
When did pep choose him play him last season and so far this season ? Pep has critised him and commented about his training not being good enough and that he hopes he can recover himself, lots of not positive things

Last Tuesday. It isn’t about how often he plays . The fact is if Pep wasn’t getting anything he wanted from Jack then like Phillips he’d never play. Pep knows exactly what he gets from Grealish just like everyone in here does. The fact that despite injury he’s made 12 appearances this season and 36 last when I’ll agree he struggled, tells us Pep still thinks he is making a valuable contribution to the team.
He’s never provided big numbers in stats, but he does IMO help the team balance, for Pep to pick him fairly regularly he too must see something other in here aren’t seeing
Sometimes things Pep does baffle me and he doesn’t do things I think he should. Unlike some though I’m self aware enough to realise there is a 99% plus chance Pep one of the best coaches ever knows better than me a bloke on a forum that makes coffee for a living, and is most likely right.

It is true. Bayern tapped Sane up more than once offering to double his salary. His interfering mother wanted him to sign for Bayern for the money and because they were homesick.

Grealish was brought in for his dazzling skills he had at Villa. He signed but left his dazzling skills at Villa Park.

You say that a lot , clearly pep is god but it doesnt mean we should not disagree with what he does

Of course Pep can make mistakes and you can disagree with what he does. I just can’t get my head around people thinking first him making the mistake of picking Grealish for no good reason and keep repeating that mistake year after year.
Second I can’t understand anyone not just taking a breath and thinking to themselves what’s Pep seeing that I’m not seeing, maybe it’s me missing something and not Pep.
If posters posted I can’t see what Pep sees in him ,fair enough. Its the certainty that this player or that player is shit, not good enough yet Pep can’t see it I find odd
Thats’s always my first thought, when I think why has Pep never tried this or that, then we go on to win a treble or something. I just think to myself ,yes he was probably right then.

I agree with a lot of that . Pep has talked about him not training well or coming in no state to train , along with he needs to get his head straight , lots of little comments about him , both of them have said he needs to contribute to the attack numbers and the like

Like all players if they fall off a cliff and have one good season in three there are going to be questions asked

Right now if Jack can come in on Sunday, play 75+ minutes and keep the ball, not lose it in daft places and track back like he has done to support Gvardiol or Ake (and given Akes performances historically against Salah I’d prefer the latter) then I will take that.

Wow, the absolute state of this thread.

A scapegoat has truly been identified who this season didn't play in the CL defeat, didn't play in the PL defeats vs Bournemouth or Brighton, only came on at 3-0 down in the PL defeat vs Spurs and didn't play in the League Cup defeat.

Grealish did play 20 league games (and 36 games in total) in the historic league campaign to seal 4 in a row, 28 league games, 13 CL and 5 FA cup games in the treble campaign and 26 PL games in his 1st season when the PL title was won and yet people are claiming he's only played well for 3 months in total!!!

It's a team game and it looks to me like Jack's ability to retain possession high up the pitch has a significant bearing on whether City wins or loses.

The issue for me is that Grealish so clearly has abundant talent and a great opportunity but he consistently fails to perform at a level many think he's capable of .In some ways he reminds me a bit of McManaman when he was here .
