10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

Souness said it about him all those years ago. A player who is fouled that often isn’t seeing the game quick enough

I think that’s one of the elements of the game he struggles with.

Players like KDB, Gundogan can see the pictures on the field instantly and then release the pass early or at the right moment.

Jack has to take a number of touches before looking up and finding a pass and often the options have then closed up.

At Villa he was more driving through the midfield, breaking the lines by committing defenders and running into the space which are probably his strengths.

We don’t play like that, building up slowly and invariably there is little space to break as sides back off into a low block anyway.

A simple ball? Cutting inside with pressure and pass to Kev who was in the space it was simple.

Okay how many times did the others do this "simple" thing and get Kev on the ball except Doku did sometimes?

If we can get Kev more on the ball we win.
I’d put money that you ask for a grealish haircut at the barbers and play five a side with your socks down by your ankles.

His strength is or used to be running with the ball and forcing defenders to commit, but he seemed very reluctant to carry the ball forward today.

Disappointing because he looked promising against Forest.

He didn’t look fit tonight-could barely muster a jog…
Agreed, yes, he just seemed to want to get rid of the ball whenever he received it and he had no mobility.

Grealish, Bernado, KDB and Gundogan are all in trouble if the pass to them is half a yard off target because they’re all so slow to react, and that in turn slows down our play because we know that one bad ball and we’re wide open at the back.

Painful to watch.

he can still score his first PL goal this calendar year for us as long as he scored in the derby. it was 15th of December 2023 last time he scored in the league if I am correct.
