Out of curiosity it would be interesting to know the split on here between who wants Jack to stay and who would rather him move on to another club.

Can we have a poll?

This is no disrespect to Jack as I wish him well whatever happens.

Good footballer? Yes.
£100m worth of footballer? No.
Fulfilled his potential? Absolutely not. But maybe not all his fault, in terms of how he’s been used.

It’s a crying shame it hasn’t really worked out. I like him and wished it had. The Forest game this season where he played more central, he looked re-born and gave us a glimpse of what he could do.

But where he’s been used out on the wing, the end product just isn’t there. He looks scared to have a shot when it looks the most blindingly obvious thing to do. Too much cutting back instead of whipping balls in to Haaland. Running up blind alleys.

Nobody will ever take the Treble away from him and he certainly played his part. But, very reluctantly, it might be time to accept it’s not meant to be for him.

I too wish him all the best whatever happens - I don’t doubt he has done his best and hope he’ll be applauded and welcomed back whenever he visits. (Unless of course, as the DM are suggesting this evening, he goes to United - PLEASE don’t let that happen.)

The fact is Grealish has been poor to average most of the time here yet you keep coming on to big him up like he's world class. Even most of his fanboys have conceded he's a lost cause except you and a handful of others who refuse to acknowledge he's been a very poor signing, especially costing a British record 100m. And it's worth pointing out his fee because when we sell him we'll probably get low balled for 20-30m but we'll have to take whatever we can because he's 300k per week which will put most clubs off because he won't want to drop his weekly earnings, and that will be a problem when the time comes.

100m wasted and 300k per week to watch Grealish prance about like a show pony on fuckin' dope and little else . Still boring and predictable, unfit, mentally weak and uninterested in heeding what Pep has said about him.

Ah, but he keeps the ball, draws a foul, sells enough shirts to pay his wages and is always friendly with kids, especially disabled kids, so he's a nice guy. As a person I like Grealish but for me he's become the most frustrating City player in recent history and I'll be glad when he's sold.

Steady on Graeme, you will give yourself a coronary

Reads like an Anthony Burgess novel this.

Who has been a more successful £100m player?

You might want to look at our best results he has played no part in before you start preaching again and he barely contributed to title number four

Which results are they? And it's the Grealish 2024/25 thread so it's perfectly valid to look at City's results in 2024/25.

You seem to have some real issue with Grealish; any other player and you'd be reporting your own posts.

Yeah have to agree with you mate on most of those points, the thing is he seems like a good lad although likes too much booze for a professional athlete in my opinion.
I've never been a fan of his since he came to city although he was good at Villa.
I didn't like us paying 100 million for any player so the fee pissed me off of it at the time but I was obviously prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt as he might be one of our greats.
But it gave a lot of ammunition to the chequebook Pep brigade.

However save for a few short months when he was putting the required effort in..... I have to say that he has frustrated me every time somebody passed the ball out to him, I would think oh no another attack slowed down, no service to Haaland and an eventual back pass to Rodri or whoever the left back was in that game.
He has to be one of the most predictable forward players I've ever seen in a city shirt.

His goals and assists during his time here has been pathetic and I maintain that had Raheem Sterling or Mahrez had given us that poor return they would have been hammered in this forum because they weren't as likable as Jack Grealish and it seems they didn't have as much time for young fans, maybe it is this persona and his good looks that Jack has still got fans drooling over him even though he has not delivered, I maintain that it has been a terrible signing financially.

He has been so bad even Pep is publicly calling him out. Something that managers very rarely do regarding their own players, but it's obvious that Pep has had enough of Jack Grealish.

I think we will have a problem getting rid of him due to his 300k or whatever it is a week, only a club as stupid as United will pay it, and boy, they are stupid!!
I would take 10 million to get him off the wage bill.

I take you calling me Graham as a compliment because he knows his stuff and one of my favourite pundits.

And I'm not offended by your Anthony Burgess reference.

Mbappe, Griezmann, Bale, Rice, Hazard, Kane, and Belingham. 100m+ players who are much better and more successful(individually) than Grealish and given better value to their clubs.

not starting Leicester, WHU, Brentford or Ipswich easier run, likely not to start PSG or Chelsea either this week. thats not "being rotated" thats being kept on bench for a reason.

So one of the greatest footballing minds of all time who values work rate above all else selected a player for over 2 years who wasn't putting the required effort in. The same Pep Guardiola who bombed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Samuel Eto’o and Deco out of Barcelona persisted with Grealish not putting the required effort in save for a few short months.

I've no idea why posters on this thread post stuff that is clearly false.

You can only compare him to fellow City players bought for £100m.
How many of them are there?

Why would Grealish only be compared to £100m players bought by City? The £100m is a metric used and seems to be a stick to beat him with. There are other £100m players and it's perfectly valid to compare Grealish with them.

After Trevor Francis was the first British player to be sold for £1 million, other players bought for over £1m were grouped into a category of million pound footballers and compared.

The question posed was comparing players who actually cost £100m as that is the metric constantly used to beat Grealish with and I think it's very likely there are pressures associated with being a £100m player. Bale, Hazard, Kane, and Bellingham didn't cost £100m and I've never heard criticism of Grealish portrayed as those who cost over £80m.

It's hugely ironic with the fanboy slur that you are quoting being "more successful(individually)" all of sudden; I'm interested in what Manchester City win rather than individual awards, trinkets and baubles.

Grealish has won 3 Premier Leagues, 1 Champions League, 1 FA Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup and 1 FIFA Club World Cup more than Declan Rice.

Griezmann won 1 Copa del Rey 2020–21 and was a Supercopa de España runner-up: 2021 at Barcelona!!!

A club buys a player with the club's money for the benefit of the club:

Mbappe signed for PSG for £166m and scored a lot goals, PSG didn't win the CL, didn't win the French League every year. And Mbappe left for a free at the end of his contract.

Grealish signed for City for £100m, won a lot of free kicks, City won the treble and secured 4 league titles in a row. And if Grealish is sold within the next 12 months, there will be a transfer fee.

Who was the better value signing? And which club will be happier with their investment?

Good performance against Forest - All becuase of Jack Grealish

Bad Performance against Juventus - Everyone was bad can’t blame him alone

Can’t even call such analysis as ridiculous ,this is something else

And I've no idea why you have this hero worship of a player who's cost us circa 150 million quid so far for 6 decent months, even Pep has had enough of him.
We all see things differently though mate, and if you think he's been value for money then fair enough.

For some reason known to Pep, I think Jack will start vs PSG and he’ll do well.
Very much doubt it Savinho was rested so he’s ready to start this game. Jack has a chance of getting on the pitch now with Doku out. Hopefully he impacts the game if he does.

The team won the treble, Grealish having a handful of good performances. That’s assuming the players we already had or could have got with 100mil wouldn’t have performed at a similar level. It’s like saying Di Matteo is a world class manager because he won Chelsea a CL. There’s a lot of luck involved.

He’s not been good enough. No amount of ‘shackling’ should lead to a full year of no goals in the league.

I hope he gets a move elsewhere and regains his form. Don’t dislike the guy but he’s not at our level.

We have had a full team of players, all better than Grealish, who didn't cost £100m and who contributed as much, if not more , to our recent successes.
You have to take the price of a player into account.
Because he plays with us, it is quite reasonable to compare him with his fellow players.
He seems to have fell behind in the picking order to Savinho and Doku.
