The problem isn't Doku, problem is that people lost the sense of hierarchy..

We have 100m treble-winner winger in Grealish, who earns 300K per week and has proven himself as a stable player throughout the entire 2022 / 2023 season. He is pro and should always be regarded as a regular starter...

Doku is 21 years old young player, who has proven nothing and who needs time to learn & become stable deliver of results.. Therefore he should be regarded as a valuable squad player, who is used during rotations or injury situations..

We have a lot of players like that.
Haaland, KDB, Foden, Bernardo & Grealish are our regular starters..
Julian, Doku, Bobb, Kovacic, Matheus are our bench / reserve players..

Same applies to
Ederson, Walker, Stones, Ruben, Ake, Rodri
and
Akanji, Guardiol, Rico, Gomez and Ortega

if we look from that perspective, Doku is a great addition, young & talented player, who can be rotated with regular starters whenever needed..
This should be pinned.

Don’t understand why we don’t give him a chance on the RW. The position we bought him for and the position he played at his previous club.

I think the fact that he's barely played there suggests it isn't the position we bought him for?

We tend to buy players for their skillset, not just for the position they played at their old club. Pep then takes that skillset and uses it often differently to how any other team would. He won't want a right winger beating their man and spamming crosses over all the time, he'll be more bothered about making the right passes.

I was surprised the Bournemouth fullback (who was on a yellow) was continually pushing Doku in the back if he received the ball short. He wasn't even trying to cover it up, just push, push, push. Maybe nothing was given because they weren't very strong pushes, but it that really allowed now? I thought the ref was generally decent, but he should have had a word.

He’s currently going to the byline most of the time when he has success anyway though but crossing with his weak foot. Not like he looks much threat when cutting in on his right for a shot. He’s having about as much success as Jack on that front. Obviously Grealish keeps the ball far better though. Can’t help thinking the right would be worth a go at times. He actually picked out a really good ball from there to Kev in his brief cameo on the right against Brentford.
