Did you see the pass for Nico? Players double upon him and Nico is afforded acres of space in the box.Hes a chaotic player who im convinced has no idea what hes doing when he gets the ball, which isnt a bad thing as such.
He did brilliant for the goal but then i dont recall any other time he had a run that didnt end up in a blind alley after that

If I were to re-jig that line to make him and Marmoush work, because he us taking Marmoushs favourite spot, is to drop Gundogan for Marmoush, and play an actual RW.
Otherwise we just rotate them and have good depth which im fine with also.
One thing id like Pep to do is give Doku more freedom to go central. I get he loves his 1v1s, but it would free up O Reilly to overlap him more letting O Reilly cross more and Doku maybe get some chances to score.

Looks to me like he put in a large amount of decent targeted crosses. Will never understand how whatever he does people are still not happy.
It’s very simple.
These fans have their favourites who can do no wrong.
Doku and Rico will always receive criticism from these sets of fans and we just have to live with it.

If Doku played with a Ljungberg or Fat Frank then he would have had twenty assists this season. If he played with a striker like Isak even Delap or Solanke he would have had plenty more assists.
The problem lies with the dissfunctional mkdfield and Håland making poor runs. It has improved slightly now with omar who is a willing and able runner.

They could drop an absolute stinker and those that love them will never admit it.
He is a scary prospect. No one even dares defend him with one guy. Its common sense you need 2 or more once he gets the ball.He was great, and against a defensively solid opponent, and with no 'striker' to hit.
We give wingers a damn hard time. We want them to be ambitious but never to lose the ball. We want them to be accurate in their passing but don't want it sideways or backwards.
Let it go, you are chasing a myth.
Doku is one of the best young wingers in the world game, and has parts of his game where he is probably number 1. His dribbling stats are globally top of the pile, yet he is only 22. Celebrate what we have.
Really unfair comparison imo, and one which you hear quite a lot on here.For me... Doku is a sort of Adama Traore... so much talent to get into fantastic position - but once there - failing nearly always to either score or to deliver an accurate cross.

Not really imo.it is pretty bad for 1394 minutes.
That is what our midfield has looked like most season. Only it is slowly sliding down the bowl.

Needs to learn if there isn't a pass on don't make it anyhow. Blindly passing into the oppositions feet is not great especially if its around the edge of the D.

Leroy Sané got 10 goals, 15 assists from 2,424 mins in 2017-18 which was a g/a every 97 PL mins; and 10 goals, 11 assists from 1,867 mins in 2018-19 which was a g/a every 89 PL mins.
Raheem Sterling averaged g/a every 125 minutes across all 7 of his seasons with us (137 g+a in 7 PL seasons/17,133 PL mins).
It’s something that needs to improve with Doku (and Savinho who has 1 goal and 10 assists from 1,742 PL mins… g/a every 158 PL mins).
I do think there are two fantastic players in both Doku and Savinho. They just need to work hard on the last thing they both do.

A goal involvement every 154 minutes is good for a winger in a dysfunctional team. The last two assists at home were vital for our CL chances.
Hopefully, he can improve next season.
