Had intended to say quite a bit after our last game
I found it rather interesting. How little was mentioned about how well he played
and I'm not just speaking about that goal.
That goal, being said is that it took place at a vital moment and I didn't even hear anyone on any of the podcast reference it as something important I mean, I know we gave up a goal after but had he not scored that goal? Does everyone realize we wouldn't have won the game?
What can people do that? He did that was bad in this match I'm not sure I could go back and rewatch, but I didn't see anything. I saw a lot of positives and others that we weren't mentioned or didn't seem to be spoken of.
I think the lack of credit Doku seems to get from fans when he does well
and can we recall that heading towards the end of last season, he was repeatedly doing well after the critics were out with the guns blazing.
I don't know if anyone remembers and then suddenly all the critics went quiet.
Now we're already getting into this last match some of the same rhetoric when he's just got here and I don't know if anyone remembers have we had plans to take a little while to bed in?
And also Doku's positive energy, determination, commitment to ball retention, improved decision makinf and attitude and approach to the games.
I recall one moment where the criticism of him would gather that he would take on the defender instead of hold and wait, but he did and it was a good decision and it helped.
I remember another moment where he thought to win for a ball that was a huge piece and retaining the possession after I believe Bernardo or another player made a poor decision and he helped us get the ball back.
Wonder if that's why Pep plays him and why there's another player that doesn't play who thinks he deserves to play from a certain country named Portugal is getting to be rather interesting.
In fact, I've been thinking this for a while and noticing their certain fans who, for whatever reason repeat repeatedly some on some well-known podcasts for city, literally say things like he's not gonna make it he's not a city player.
So criticisms I remember hearing:
- no final ball
- poor finishing
- poor good decision-making
- giving the ball away
Can someone point where he did this consistently in this game at least?
Kovacic, for as wonderful as he was quite as good with protecting the back line defensively so he scored two fantastic goals, and he got man of the match.
I actually think he might be more at fault for our problems and it's actually kind of a positive and negative more than Doku certainly wasn't that game.
End of the game, Doku was retaining possession exceptionally well especially to finish the game off after Fulham scored..
- I saw him winning the ball back by any means
- fighting off defenders frustrated with him as they always are
- but also because he kept being pesky and winning possession back
Infuriating defenders as usual trying to figure out what to do and tired.
scared for their lives about what might happen when he has the ball.
On his goal, his little move is why the keeper looked bad. He wasn't sure which way he was going for a split moment.
That was all Doku needed.
I feel his crossing delivery is getting quite good as I'm seeing him put the ball usually in a good position with a nice curl in the box but sometimes people just aren't there, and when we don't have pace and anticipation outside of Haaland, which was the problem.
We are not just exposed on counters, but no one to come in for those crosses.
I don't know what he can do about that
