11 | Jeremy Doku - 2024/25

Thats why you also bought the most prolific goalscorer in the world. Thats the idea, for them to assist and for him to score. The problem is they don't get in good positions to assist often enough because of poor off ball movement (Doku due to lack of knowledge, Bernardo Silva due to lack of legs), and when they do, Haaland just doesn't read their game.

A bigger problem for me is Haaland, hes a vertical player, not someone who thrives on crosses. Put Osimhen or Vlahovic in his place and you solved most of the problem.

We CANNOT expect players to chip in and score goals when they never really have, poor recruitment.

Doku many times doesn’t know where his crossing is going himself not to mention Haaland. My assessment for Doku is that he doesn’t have the football IQ. He only has the tools but not the brain to use the tools properly. The only comfortable way for him to play a game is showboating along the wing. And he doesn’t track back when it matters.

If he trips over the ball again whilst trying to dribble, I will scream.Totally ineffective today. Should have been replaced earlier. Add him to the clear out.

He fell over himself today and sat on the ground, looking for a free instead of getting up and chasing the ball back.

The issue we have is we have lost Alvarez, Mahrez, Sterling and Jesus in a couple of years.

All variously maligned one way or the other but between those four they’d all bang in about 15 a season and maybe 10 assists as well.

So that’s 60 goals and 40 assists between them.

They’ve been replaced by Grealish, Nunes, Doku and Savinho for circa £230m.

Who will be lucky to get 10 goals and 10 assist between them.

So if Haaland doesn’t score we are invariably fucked.

That’s the issue.
