Two matches in a row where he didn't get a single minute. Rightfully so after that Everton match where he was anonymous, as were many in the season so far from him. Savinho managed to establish better connection with Haaland in two games than Doku did in two seasons and has rightfully overtaken him in the pecking order.

Whatever Doku's issue is, he can't escape the fact that he hasn't improved at all in a year, and in fact likely regressed in terms of speed and creativity. He needs to get his head out of his ass and realize that if he continues to approach the game the way he is currently doing, he will be out of Manchester very soon.
Hes young so time is on his side. He does need to improve though. His final ‘action’ is below standard.

I hope is ego isnt too high up there.

He must clearly be told he needs to look up more to see where people are in the box but very often he doesnt, and he puts aimless balls into the box.

He clearly has all the skills and ability to be a world class winger, but he needs to fix how he approaches the final action.

I think his first though is more about how to score rather than how to create, and that doesnt work for us.

If he is too hung up on it perhaps Pep can mold him to play more behind the striker, but that will take some time and work for that as well.

When he's decisive, he's good.

Just needs to learn to play with Haaland. Prefers the LW spot but Savio has a nice understanding with Erling at LW. Doku will need to keep his levels up at RW, I think.

A confidence booster for the rest of the season. Still a useful player to have in the squad. Same with Savinho.

Brilliant game. Obviously shite opposition but he looked so confident in himself today and so much of what he attempted, he pulled off. Should do his confidence some good, along with several other players in the team today. Best player on the pitch for me.

Haaland also needs to learn to play with him.. Doku always crosses near post, look at Mcatee's goal for example.. if Haaland made that run every now and then both their numbers go up quite a bit.

Yeah, I agree. It's a symbiotic relationship.

To be fair, Haaland has missed some sitters that Doku has placed on a silver platter for him. Also, why doesn’t Haaland make those near-post runs? Players like Gundo, Aguero, and Sterling used to thrive off those runs, and we even won the league thanks those runs. Haaland needs to improve his reading of the game. The sooner he does that, the better it will be for everyone involved. If he starts making those runs, he could easily score 40+ goals in the Premier League alone.

He had brilliant games against top opposition sides last season as well
I didn't say he didn't. Wasn't shitting on him for it. Simply saying his abilities shine brighter than anybody elses when the opposition is inferior because he can beat a man so easily.

We could stick out the entire eds team plus doku against a league 1 side and I'd trust him to win us the game. I couldn't say the same for any other player in our squad.

You make a good point. Obviously they’re pros but it made me laugh at times how easily he could go past them. Looked like when a pro is playing against amateurs at times.

Doku is a flat track bully. He is just physically superior to weak teams and he can dominate them without too much exertion. But he also shows up against good sides, due to two reasons: they leave a bit more space usually, and he is also visibly fired up. Its the middle sides, the Brightons, that he struggles with most. He has to diversify his game beyond pure athleticism to be consistently good. Play smarter and harder.

Not really true as he’s skinned some great fullbacks on his day.His issues and what’s clearly holding him back from becoming a great winger is decision making and end product.
