Back pass is my option. It would be a direct shooting chance. And Haaland helped to clear the space in front of goal. As the other one pointed out, Haaland didn’t make mistake by opening the space. A teammate only makes short passes is not the fault of the receiver. And Haaland moving away from Doku is not a sign of being selfish but rather being unselfish.
No, Haaland moving away from Doku in the exact moment Doku releases the ball, when its clear to him there is nobody else that can get at the upper edge of the six yard box is not a good decision. He clears the space for no one, if there is a potential near post run by another player it makes sense, but there isn't and he should be aware of that, as he should be aware that Savinho is already at the back post. Haaland had the option to move to where Doku passes the ball, where Doku expected him to move. He gets the timing right and the direction completely wrong.
This happens over and over again, this is just one example. There is absolutely no way Doku gets the ball where Haaland is going, there is no one at the near post, and if he passes it back people are like "see, no end product". Thats the problem when you have a striker that only finishes but also only knows how to move on the counter and not in the box.
btw, in the same match Doku passes to him on the counter, again its not the ideal pass, but initially I thought Doku's defender deflects it, but he actually doesn't so its actually a decent square even if not perfect.
Look carefully at the 0:40 mark. Haaland just needs to slow down, take a touch on the ball, and then take a shot with his second touch. Maybe if hes capable of quicker reactions (mentally) he would be able to take the first time shot still if he just stops his run. But he keeps going, again bad reaction. Haaland always wants it only on a silver platter for an easy tap in, well sometimes you need to also do some dirty work to score.
