11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

You said he can’t finish, I pointed out he can finish by giving the example of the Napoli goal, so what if it’s one fucking goal he can finish, you know fuck all about football, so what if you don’t rate the player, don’t fucking come on here and talk shit about last night when we were also in the ground.
What? I was also in the ground. Just because you rate him doesn’t mean others aren’t allowed an opinion. Forums would be absolute shite, like your post, if everyone thought the same.

He’s played over 2 seasons for us now and he’s had a few very good spells in games. He then goes missing, does very little defensively and by and large doesn’t impact games as well as he should given the ease with which he can go past a player. If he had more to his game he’d be a Balon D’or contender every year, but the reality is, he doesn’t do enough.

You think just because he can skin a full back I know nothing about football? We have all scored a worldie at some point in our playing career regardless of the level we played at. His shots generally lack power or placement or, and here’s the most important one, goals. His crosses are hit with hope 10x more often than not. Only at times this season he’s shown real quality and I don’t think he’s done it consistently, he has done it more than any other season with us though and I genuinely hope he keeps it going.

Honestly, if he were for sale, 1) how much would you value him at and 2) based on that valuation which clubs do you think would be in for him?

I don’t dislike him, I just don’t think he’s got it unfortunately.

Needs to work on his off ball movement to reach the next level. How often did we go through on a counter and he was still outside the penalty box when he could’ve easily overloaded the box. I see this at least 2 times a game which would give him good goal scoring opportunities

Do I think Doku can improve his game - yes.
Do I think he lacks football intelligence, stamina, awareness - No.
Your two questions - I think City would get there money back, if they were to sell him.
With him being only 23 a lot of clubs would be after his signature, I can see a Newcastle would probably be in for him.
This is a better post, your first post was shocking.

I disagree about my other post being shocking, but again we’re all here for debate and to share opinions amongst other reasons.

That’s the thing for me though, and this isn’t from a point of arrogance about our club, he’s our player at the moment and he gets my support when he’s on the pitch just like all the rest of them, but you’re spot on that a club like Newcastle would be in for him and they’re not where we are, in fact, they’re nowhere near where we are even during this rebuild we’re on. He’s got a lot of talent in 1 part of his game, but he falls way short for me so far in his city career in all other areas. Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and PSG etc… wouldn’t be remotely interested in him.

I really hope his form continues and he can develop the other areas of his game.

He can be the best winger in the world if he just runs more. But I think hes afraid of getting injured.
What the hell is a deep completion?!! Stats are good but they don’t tell the whole story, to be a world class winger he needs to learn to release the ball earlier more often, work on his off ball positioning and finally work on his finishing

No winger releases the ball earlier more often to the point where theyre great decision makers. Otherwise they wouldn't be wingers. His finishing is fine he just doesn't get into enough chances. And his off ball positioning would improve if he runs more. Then he would have more chances and therefore more goals without needing to be become a Haaland level finisher.

Because he doesn't work on it enough? Instead working on technique, agility, strength etc. Because these are the things he improved on but it cost him his pace.

I've never heard of someone becoming slower because they worked on their technique.

Seems more likely to me he's carrying a small injury.

Hes stockier and more bulked up. And yes when you work on your technique instead of your speed/endurance, then you become better in your technique and worse in your speed/endurance. Its not exactly rocket science.

Do you not think the club would know about such things and take actions to rectify the situation, if at all possible ?

They seem to know a bit about player improvements/treatments .

Doku is not carrying anywhere like enough muscle to be slowing him down. Look at any 60m, 100m sprinter of the last 30 years. Look at NFL wide receivers running 60 in 4.2.

You seem to be really clutching at straws to draw a conclusion I'm not sure is actually true, and has a much more obvious cause, a professional footballer carrying a small injury.

I think its by design. They're training him to be less of a complete winger and specializing him even further in what hes good at, small bursts in the half space. But not improving his long distance and off ball game will haunt him in the future. I just think its the wrong approach because its really catered for this Pep system and he will not play in Pep's system forever.

You can compare him to NFL players or sprinters, or you can compare him to himself a year or two ago, when he was a lot lighter and more energetic.

Cant be arsed to go back and see what is currently being debated. Just came on to say he's brill.
Feels like this is kind of the standard for this forum. Don't mean to be a tool, but objectively speaking there is a lot more in depth analysis and debate at the redcafe forum over United's players. I wonder why is that the case since the forum format is pretty similar. The only big difference is length of pages, maybe that has something to do with it.

I love him but I can be objective. It’s weird because I think he can be so much better if he applies himself more. I wonder how Pep and his teammates don't have a go at him for being so languid all the time. The man literally made zero off the ball runs today. Even one time there was Haaland running with the ball in the middle, he was on the left with all the space in the world just jogging.
Imo it’s odd to have idolised the fella when he was below bar, but now he’s playing his best football to turn on him is even odder

He’s up there with the best in the world right now. I think we expect more because he gets the ball so often but he’s effective in most games at least two or three times. And when he plays, we win, when he doesn’t start, we lose (Villa and Spurs).
