This is correct.
It is a totally stupid bid and only an idiot (or someone with more money than they can eat) would make it. On the receiving side, you'd have to be mental to turn this down.
For Christ's sake, it's more than *double* the previous world record amount, and we are in a recession. They cannot do anything but accept this.
(Actually, they may even be legally obliged to accept it. To not do so would not be acting in the best interests of their shareholders, which I suspect is a legal requirement in Italy as it is here.)
