This is a myth. European transfers fees are paid in euros.
the existing record is Zidane to Real, 2001. €76m, which equated to £48m at the time.
the figure being bandied about for kaka is €120m, £107m pounds at the current exchange rate (but that's immaterial cos the money is coming from abroad).
in real terms the quoted fee for kaka is about 60% bigger than the zidane fee.
BUT, the only source we have for this fee is very dubious. it is definately in Milan's interest to talk up the fee. it turned out that the fee quoted yesterday included Dida and Gattuso.
note:
at the current exchange rate zidane's fee would equate to £68m.
at the old exchange rate the kaka fee quoted would have been something like £75m
