Completed 90% of his passes tonight, often under pressure. I reckon he can save his life as well as the odd shot.
Agreed.

There's a spectrum between "Can't pass" and "Not very good".

He is "fine" at passing for a keeper, honestly I think better than the average imo. But he isn't Ederson good and that's okay.

I agree. He has the composure but doesn’t quite have the technique for more difficult passes. He’s definitely better with his feet than the standard non-sweeper goalkeeper.

Ok, he is better than Joe. :P I Still shaky about his passing though. Its very basic.

He's been impressing in the series of opportunities he's being given.

I don't think his ability on the ball will ever be good enough to displace Ederson long term (that's not downplaying Steffen's ability), but he's in the shop window at the moment and I think he'll have some suitors come the end of the season.

I see this as a bit of a Martinez situation like Arsenal had last year - first team GK injured (or COVID in our case), 2nd keeper does a great job and has PL clubs vying for him in the summer.

Obviously it would be great to keep a backup GK around as good as him, but in practice, if he's done enough to turn heads and an opportunity presents itself to become no.1 at a decent club, I reckon he'll jump for it - especially as he's 26 in the summer.

Glad it seems that we have a very capable back up at the moment though with Eddy out and hope he continues to be reliable when called upon.

For what it's worth, he almost certainly would have always played tonight even without an Ederson injury.

As you say though he has certainly impressed.

I get worried when the ball is at his feet.

Decent save from Fernandes, which I’d expect him to make, but thus far very well protected.

The most important factor is that he’s playing in meaningful games because, if we need him later in the season, these appearances might be vitally important to give him and the defence the confidence to perform at the level we’ll need.
