I thought he and Stones were both good. They had nothing down the middle. We gave an amazing attacking side 2 real chances. Walker switched off for the second and the first was a team effort of defending and they got a bit lucky.

Laporte had to make 2 last man tackles... Stones was decent but his positioning and reading of their through balls was poor.

Fortunately, Stones has hit form at the right moment. We are lucky to have those 4 CBs.

I think he showed today that he's a far better defender than people give him credit for.

Think he prone to make a really big mistake, but is still few than people accused him for.

When he is absolute best, undropable and prefered pairing for Dias than Stones.

But if you remember, Stones-Laporte partnership has been great since 2018 / 2019, when Kompany was injured and Pep had to stick with Stones-Laporte duo in the first half of that season.

That was not an easy task he and stones had today, but they did a good job of making it look it. Pep asked a lot of them both and they both delivered. Couple of slack moments in a 90 minute game of that quality were always going to happen but they were very severely limited. Been out best defender all season.

I don't see Dias walking back in, neither he or stones have done anything to warrant being dropped.

He doesnt have that natural leadership quality that Dias displays.

He and stones didn't put a foot wrong all night and had a lot of work to do. Dias will come back in for rotational purposes probably this weekend but if not the week after but I'm seeing laporte and stones as first choice right now when all are fresh, Dias will have to wait.

I didn't think he was great at all.I saw nothing of the leadership Stones was displaying and i thought he was weak in the challenge on several occasions.

As my previous criticism.he needs to be more assertive and take games by the scruff - he often seems happy to allow others to show the way.

In fairness, Stones and Walker did a lot of that too. Nothing annoys me more than defenders who don't move the ball quickly. Especially when there's a safe option early.

It advantages the opposition to reset their defense.

I feel like if there was a Manchester City drinking game then you'd definitely have to do a shot every time the referee speaks to Laporte and whoever is marking him.
