Classic blue moon this thread, 20 minutes is apparently not enough time to judge a player for making a big error in possession that leads directly to a goal, but it is enough time to praise a fairly rudimentary over the top through ball and call him the next rodri and how impressive he was
I think you mean classic blue moan thread, write a player off after 20 fucking minutes

Seem to recall Rodri starting out being called Plodri, and transitioning to Godri.

His pass over the top to Savinho was Rodri-esque.

Need to give him at least a season before passing any judgement.
Godzalez coming soon ;)

Straight from the huddle he looks like a leader rousing every teammate before kick off. You can't judge anything after 20 mins but I liked his cameo. He was constantly scanning the pitch and playing off simple balls and always on the move, great ball for that chance. Apart from their goal we didn't get a good sample size of his defensive duties but I'm sure he will add some balance. Fingers crossed he's ok

The goal was the exact type of situation kovacic always gets stuck in. Poor first touch, fails to control the ball with his back to goal, pressure from behind, falls too easily and without shielding the ball well enough and loses it. This is something rodri never faltered in and I was really hoping Nico could help us in those exact situations with his superior technical ability so seeing that was very disheartening

Rodri absolutely faltered at it - go watch his first couple of games again.

The technical level is there with Nico - getting used to the physicality and intensity of English football will take some time as it did Rodri.

Fantastic lofted pass to Savinho for that Gundogan chance and looked mostly composed in his brief appearance.

Hopefully his injury is nothing serious and he’s back very soon. We will need him.

Bro you can't be serious? Dias' ball put him in a bit of difficulty. He didn't make a "bad" touch. he took it away from the guy on his back who then put his knee through his back leg with plenty of force compounding it with going on to crash on him. It's a foul every day of the week.
That kid was moving to the ball the whole time he was in there making himself available and closing the opposing passing outlets when necessary.
I respect you SY but to say disheartening is way over the top. I will tell you right here and now this kid will become massive for us.

Pep has liked this player for years, he’s been playing very well for Porto, we pick him up and within 30 minutes, we’ve fucked up?!

Bluemoon can be a funny old place, or is it just the typical fuckwittery and negativity of social media infesting this place these days?
It's just way over top buffoonery. Gets zero credibility from anyone who knows ball...What are we doing here?

And rodri deserved the criticism in his first season. Why are people reading something I'm not saying? Why do defensive? We're here to analyze players on their merit game by game. Of course you don't give up or make up your mind on someone immediately.
You said the key word "deserved". Not having it. Not applicable, simple as...

It’s a free kick in the PL. It wasn’t given because they were underdogs.
Yeah, great pass which Gundo should have converted, gets a hospital pass from Ruben with 4 round him and gets caught on the back of the leg, it's a foul and VAR would have intervened (we hope)
In that brief cameo on a man made pitch he looked good, how some posters are already criticising is disappointing.

surrounded by 3 players 20 minutes into his debut, fouled and you're disheartened.

Disappointing is one word. Idiotic is another...

"This is something Rodri never faltered in"

Just objectively false, isn't it? Rodri... despite being the best player in the world... is a human being who also gives the ball away all the time. In fact, I hate to break it to you, but Rodri is dispossessed on average once every game. https://www.thepunterspage.com/player-dispossessed-stats/

This idea that somebody is going to come in who never loses the ball is stupid. Remove it from your brain because it doesn't happen and it's never going to happen.
