NO NO NO .. Don't you remember when you were a 17 yr old boy and what was running through your mind .. I'd make her wait till she was alot older ..
Very good point.However, what do you think 14 & 15 year old lads are thinking about? Just football and music? Just a thought. Really, he should go and find someone his own age (or older). It is wrong. She may not be fully aware of the ramifications of such a 'relationship'. He definitely should be. If all else fails;

A tactful approach is needed, she being 14 turning in to a young lady now thinks she knows what life is all about, and in her eyes this 17 year old lad is probably the best thing since sliced bread, slagging him off to her, or even threatening him with violence will only mean they meet illicitly away from your observations, giving him a hiding will probably land you with a jail sentence and injunction, meaning you cant go near him at all, chances are it is a phase and will pass.

If she is happy then leave her be she will respect you for it. Just keep your eye on her don’t drive a wedge between you both, times have changed kids are more independent now and have more rights, in the eyes of the law 14 and 17 is no big deal except in your eyes

Saying that if he takes the piss then ignore all the above and go with your fatherly instincts,

my boyfriend was older than 17 when i was 14, it depends on the person

I agree citychick ...... if it was my daughter i wouldn't be too worried if the lad was okay , sensible an' likeable ...... a three year gap is nothin' nowadays ........ however if the lad was a right tosser , an' i didn't like him now that would be a different story!
