I think if he plays like a #6, and inbetween the CBs, that his qualities shine much better.
We all know this already, Pep doesn't do him many favours as a double pivot imo, he is like Busquets, brilliant as a 6, but not so good as a double 8.
But... I also think he could do a good job as an auxiliary CB, considering that we often shift to a back 3 with:
Laporte-----Dias----Walker
I don't see why Rodri can't rotate for Dias for some minutes (and partner Laporte or Ake), considering the Laporte-Dias duo has Laporte usually staying back, with Dias pushing up in also suits Rodri as well.
Those are the 2 ways to play him and get the best out of him.
As an aside, I wonder if Stones can rotate with Walker as a sort of defensive RB, he has atleast some pace, so maybe its possible.
