He ain't gonna. But he's a Spanish lad, Madrid born so obviously when they come calling it's gonna mean something to him! Just like if united called me when I was 18... It would have said a lot about my ability. But I still would have told them to fuck off!
It’s the only move away from us that would make any sense for his career. The lure of Real, to some, is something they can’t ignore. If he moved to any other club in the world, it would be a backwards step.

Exactly. Besides he has won everything in England so I can see the lure of winning everything in Spain. Particularly for the biggest club in the world not to mention they also happen to be located in his home country!

If he were to leave I would hold no grudges.

I can’t really see how anyone could, but there you go.

I'd say he's just giving the standard PR response that all footballers give when asked about interest from Real Madrid. You never know what will happen in the future and closing doors by calling them a bunch of whiny cunts, as much as we'd love to hear it as fans, is seldom the right move. Doesn't mean he's going anywhere. Infact I'd bet he still gives us the rest of his best years.

I don't know if you have seen Rodri mention pep anywhere in his speech after winning balloon d'or or even interviews he has done since . I can't find any links or quotes.

You cannot argue that as a Spaniard and a chance to return home, for the biggest club in the world would be attractive. You would like to think their disrespect towards him made a lasting impression to never go there. He is also quite simplistic and don't see the glitz and glamour side of Real being a deal breaker.

FFS. Some right whoppers on here.
Rodri loves City.
Says he might end his career here.
But some numbnuts on here believes everything he/she reads, without any context.
Watch the video of the boy as he returns home.
He is a blue, won us the Champions league and tomorrow I’ll be showing my appreciation to the lad, as will 50k others (hopefully)

Rodri loves it here, he appreciates city, he's very humble and doesnt seek the limelight, he's an ex atleti player, real Madrid disrespected him massively upon being crowned the best in the world, all their mouth pieces did the same under their instructions, Rodri is not going to forget all that and jump into bed with them at the first sign of interest. They well and truly fucked any chance they may have had of getting him when they threw their toys out of the pram. He'd also bot be appreciated there where it's all about "galactico's" and not to mention they've got 2 of the costliest holding midfielders who are both younger than Rodri already in tchouameni and camavinga. You can all stop shitting your knickers at the prospect of him going there, he'll spend the best part of his career, if not the rest of it, a blue.

The former has been linked with moves away and Camavinga hasn't nailed down that holding position. They have also lost the experience of Kroos and will eventually lose Modric. Different position but important for setting the pace of the game. Those two you mentioned don't have the positional awareness of Rodri or the same ability to control the tempo. The prospect of playing in his hometown is always going to be attractive.

I wasn't comparing them to Rodri, I mentioned them simply because they're both young, expensive and highly thought of defensive midfielders and what they do with them presents just another barrier amongst the many others I mentioned.

Can't be that attractive of a prospect because Rodri has played in his hometown already. He left to come here and became the best player on the planet in doing so.

He came here, won it all and has achieved the highest individual award. It's possible he won't be quite as good a player after the injury and is now entering the later part of his career.

By the time Rodri's contract runs out.. we may have created the next Rodri in midfield already.. you just never know how these things go..

I mean Kun had 3 20+ goal seasons under Pep and then had 16 goals midway through the 19-20 season and then the meniscus injury happened. As much as we love him.. he just was not the same player after that injury! :(

Fingers crossed Rodri can come back the same player because there's always trepidation when a player comes back from such a serious injury. Not being negative but I remember Bell and Lake painfully trying to get back to their best and it was cruel to see. I think we all wish him a speedy recovery to full fitness.
