16 | Rodri 2025/26

Perhaps - but it's also likely that he's building into form - which I suspect.

My sole reservation against Rodri - is that Rodri seems to be glass... a matter of time until he picks up another debilitating injury requiring 6-months plus to recover. I hope that I'm wrong in the "glass" assessment b/c Rodri is the best player in world football when on form (and able to start).
Other than the cruciate injury, what evidence is there that he is ‘glass’?

In the past 2 years, how many games has he started for us - given that he's the best player in the world?

And given his injury record... how many of those starts are not full-game... coming off an injury - not at full form... likely subbed after 60 minutes?

As for actual injuries:

Rodri's current injury history may well be a fluke... and he'll be injury free or nearly so from here on out. On the other hand... his current run of injuries are cause for concern. If this continues... he's glass.

Do you actually think before you post?

What on earth are you on about!

I think that Rodri is the best player in world football when fit and on his game.

At the same time, I think that he's injury prone... very much so... which is why I've labeled him as "glass".

I get that you disagree... and fair enough. And yet, I very much fear that Rodri will sustain yet another injury seeing him out for multiple months this season. I hope I'm wrong - but history as of late suggests that this is very possible. And I've posted Rodri's injury history - which you've somehow ignored.

I thought the shit you were spouting about Donnarumma was bad enough, but this is different level. Before his cruciate ligament injury he'd barely missed any games for us. But he then gets what used to be a career ending injury and you're saying he's made of glass because he's had some niggles during the recovery period!

Fucking hell.

I'll take it that you disagree with me - citing no evidence/facts to the contrary... whatever. Your ad hominem attacks aren't warranted though - as I very much am a City fan and hope for all of our players to succeed.

I merely state what I think based on what I've watched.

I've posted an in depth analysis about Donnarumma by one of my favorite analysts along with his assessment about our current game versus ManU. If you've an open mind you'll look into this. I welcome your comments if you do so... but I doubt that you have the least inclination to engage in thoughtful debate. If you need a link to my post about this... I'll supply it - let me know. But once again, I very much doubt that you're of an open mind, willing to engage in debate.

As for Rodri - he's missed over half our games since his big injury and has been injured again since. I hope that this isn't a trend - but I fear (and I hope that I'm wrong) that it is.

Rodri needs to be rested and we also need him to play.

He looked exhausted at the end vs Brighton when they came back and he totally kept the Rags at bay while he was on.

When he gets subbed off they have 5-6 attacks where they could have scored.

He's simply irreplaceable which presents a problem.. we need a solid replacement for him since currently no one can do what he does.. and we also need to find a way to rest him!

Hopefully Viana has someone in mind because although Nico Gonzales is decent.. he's not proving to be as effective defensively as Rodri is (more of an 8, less of a 6 apparently).

You have suggested he'll be "made of glass" if he keeps getting injured. You posted his injury record in order to back up your perspective. The guy missed 8 games in 3 seasons and then gets what was once a career ending injury. An injury that is known to take a long time to recover from.

Questioning his injury record is absolutely absurd.

He'll probably take months to get back to his best, if he ever does. That said if he reaches 80-85% of that peak he's still going to be a hell of a player.

How about providing your own opinions on the forum instead of constantly letting youtubers provide them for you?

He has missed a handful of games in his career before his cruciate. He has had setbacks in his recovery like most with these career threatening injuries. There is zero evidence that he is made of glass or is injury prone. Really don’t know where you are coming from.

That record shows he is anything but injury prone.

He isn't injury prone and he is still being eased back into contention but the issue is how much sharpness has been taken off from his overall game from his cruiciate ligament injury? Another factor is Real Madrid's presence looming in the background. Especially when we are trying to tie him down to a new contract.

He'll come good again, he's miles away from his previous form but it just takes time.
I do think he may struggle to get back to his very best & will need more help around him than previously but he'll still be some player, even at 85%.
Sign that contract Rodders

Him and Van Dijk have an “aura” like nobody else in the league. Like 18 year olds playing in a u15s game - just look bigger, stronger and smarter than everyone else. What a player - let’s get him fit and firing. Like others I worry re the contract - do Real need another midfielder? If he hasn’t signed it by Jan then I think we may need to worry.
