Can't agree with those thinking Kev is over weight or out of condition. We have seen with others that the club has strict rules on players fat content and weight. If anything Kev is suffering from the repeated knocks he has taken to his ankles and knees - Thanks Harry Kane and Deli Ali!
The World Cup was a disaster for Belgium and despite what he may say, it has to have had an impact on his mind. His performance in the cup against Liverpool right after told me it's not about his physical condition. The key with having him in our side is to play a system that allows him to do his stuff. 19 goals/assists so far this year is incredible and we are a less potent attacking side without him.
I don't want him running around like a headless chicken, I want him given the ball early enough to open sides up with his unbelievable range of passing. That said we may have to accept that the days of him picking the ball up and driving through teams multiple times a match may be over - yet he still can do that just not as often. Haaland needs Kev and City need Kev.
Dropping him was very odd to me - there are certainly other issues - the form of Phil, Bernardo. The balance of the four across the middle - we seem to be vulnerable by simple passes through or over the midfield. The lack of shape at the back with zero creativity from either fullback. The lack of anyone else creating for our striker, to name a few.
Overall despite what the PL and other teams want we are still second and with a few tweaks I bet we can still make a run at it. First order for me would be putting an arm around Kev and reminding him just how good he is - confidence is everything.
